  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I always think to myself they get to die and not have to suffer anymore but not only that people around them accept that and make that persons last days joyful. You even get help from the doctor to make sure you die quick and painless.

But here we are not getting any acceptance for our condition, no support from family, no help from doctors to make sure we die quick and painless. We get ridiculed and belittled from people for even contemplating wanting to die just because we aren't in a hospital bed. Then we gotta try to find methods ourselves that are unreliable or can get us thrown in jail.

It's ridiculous how mental illness/depression is not taken seriously by society.

There is a large part of me that gets jealous when people pass away from suicide. However, I don't wish a terminal illness (and it's related suffering) on anyone.

oh I don't wish it on others either. It's just the way people react and treat you to it is so different than mental illness despite its symptoms still being debilitating just like terminal illness can be.

when I hear successful suicides it makes me question myself. Like what am i doing wrong. Is my will to die just not as strong as theirs. Or am I not truly prepared yet.

There is an interesting article on Medium about the right to die for everyone.

Let me see if I can find it and link it.

I don't envy the terminally ill because they don't want to die and suffer knowing they have to and don't have a choice.

Many people with terminal conditions doesn't necessarily prefer to die, and are being deprived from living meaningful lives which ends up being ended too soon and tragically... Also, euthanasia isn't legal everywhere, and many folk have to put up with incredible physical suffering because the option isn't available to them.

Projecting a longing for death that you may experience on others in unfortunate situations may come across as very insensitive

Same. Although a gun seems quite easy. I've obtained one before. Partial hanging is complicated.

Nope. I'd like some nice nurses flitting about and be offered some hydromorphone a few times a day but not enough to trade for the agony, skeletal body and pooping out the mouth as in stage 4 bowel cancer.

the terminal illness isn't lucky but the way people treat you when treatment won't help anymore and you gotta die is.

No.
these people are suffering and often do not want to die. It isn't a choice and often they are trying hard to extend their time alive.
It's not something I would ever want or wish for anyone. I have watched a 6 year old die from cancer it was horrible and nothing compared to what we are wanting on here.

I am jealous of the way they're being treated. Everyone is really nice to them, empathetic, supportive, and work towards giving them a wonderful final days. No one blames them or calls them selfish or weak. They're seen as strong. And you know what, they deserve good treatment. I just wish people were as empathetic and supportive to people like us.

I'm jealous of the way they're treated, but as for the terminal illness itself, I feel very sorry for them. They are suffering a tremendous amount, are only getting sicker and sicker, and many of them do not want to die.

It's awful and it's not something I'd wish on anyone. The only thing is I wish some of us could become terminally ill but have practically no symptoms. Just something that lets us know and the people know around us, but that would be it.

Yes I'd love a terminal illness but I wouldn't get treatment (although I worry it would then be forced upon me like being sectioned not sure if the authorities literally could force you like Jehova Witness can refuse blood transfusions and die) just worry about any pain side effects

But I would then contact Dignitas and tell them to get fucked charging upto £10k for the right to die dignified when you can get Nembutal what they use for £500 off A !!!

Illness can come with long suffering. When you are ill for long, many friends leave you. Family gets bored with it at some point too. Heart attacks are better than long terminal illnesses. Quick, efficient, done.

that's what makes mental illness/depression so terrifying. The fact people can't physically see it they don't believe the severity of it. so you are stuck in mental hell while people resent and ridicule you for it as if you purposely chose this. Hell even mental illness does effect you physically in the long term.
