Just finished watching Kairo/Pulse (2001) and enjoyed it quite a bit as a subtle horror movie with some reflections on loneliness, but man were the suicide scenes laughable. Japanese horror seems to either really nail depictions of suicide or completely botch it, though I suppose the same can be said about other cultural films. Curious if anyone else has seen it and your thoughts?

Yeah I've seen the Japanese original and I liked it.
I remember giggling at at least 2 of the suicides.

Great film though, loved the webcam scenes as well as when that female ghost walks down the corridor of the abandoned flat one of the male characters enters.

Yeah that scene is perfect Jhorror with how restrained it is.

Are there any movies even that depict suicide realistically?
I'll check out the movie today to see what you're talking about.

Funny enough recently watched a Korean film called Svaha which had a simple hanging scene that would be legit. Plenty of horror movies where someone shoots themself in the head and it's graphic.
