INB4 "You're suffering? So what? You should just get over it already!" >_>Very selfish, just wishing to keep someone alive for your pleasure, and not understanding the other's feelings and thoughts, like a close person to you should.

Not only is there nothing wrong with that, but I'd like to think that the fact that people are actually willing to listen is beneficial to SS members as well. In the real world, any mention of "suicide" gets you labeled as "mentally unstable" and "you need help" immediately. You think throwing someone in the psych ward is somehow going to help them? Hell no..... it's more beneficial to talk to like minded people about it. Takes one to know one.Anyway, I wish people could understand how life can be unbearable sometimes. Many of us just want peace. And they want to achieve it painlessly. Or just someone to talk to, and that will actually listen to them, understand them. What's wrong with that?
Basic necessities do not guarantee happiness. Heck, even materialistic wealth does not guarantee happiness. From what I could see in Shawn's post history, she wanted to die because she was sick of it all - she hated her job, she hated life, and she hated the world. The whole thing just made me feel like they were the kind of parents who say "We feed you and buy you clothing, you have nothing to be sad about" no objective truth that maybe she was in pain and you were not listening. They all make sure to mention its not her fault at all numerious times. But there is always some fault.
They really don't. Shawn hated her life. So she ended it. She made that choice all on her own. I highly doubt my parents would understand why I am choosing to CTB, too.Bet you'd have found her hanging or OD'd on pills if she never used SN. At least she didn't suffer. She wanted to die. It doesn't sound like her parents really understood her and why she chose that path.
Who is Sylvia Moss?Sylvia Moss' credibility committed suicide in this interview r.i.p

I'm close to being homeless so if they want to arrest me and throw me in prison for the crimes of being in pain and wanting out of life, and agreeing with others who assert their decision-making autonomy, so be it. Let them clothe and feed and house me 'til I drop dead. Hopefully much sooner than later. Otherwise, to h-e-doublehockeysticks with these hypocrites who can't guarantee an end to others' pain, who vote for policies that make others' lives far harder, but who nonetheless want to prevent people from doing with our own lives as we see fit. There is nothing I feel more strongly than that every (adult) person should be entitled to an affordable, painless, medically competent, peaceful exit when we choose. We aren't the property of the state and certainly don't belong to other humans. If they can't understand that, that's not my problem.

What is the Shawn story? I am new here, can anyone shed some light?
