It's well-known for being sometimes effective against suicidal thoughts for unknown or unclear reasons, like a lot of drugs. For me it was like trying to stop a tsunami with a sandbag though.

I'm on 300mg of lithium. It doesn't do anything for how suicidal I feel, it just lessened how frequently I was crying. I've been on and off different treatments for 12 years, and the only one that has affected my suicidal ideations is Spravato

I've been on lithium since 1998. It doesn't make me feel suicidal. I take 800 mg/day which is irrelevant, because what counts is what's in your blood. Last time I had it tested (in June) my blood levels were 0.87 mmol/L (should be between 0.60 and 1.20).
