Example someone who is trans and decided to have gender reassignment. Or maybe something as basic as changing your name.

How were you 100% sure that this was the right desicion for you?

i read that some people change their last names as well. dont you feel like youre stealing someone elses last name? the last name is the family name. its like youre inviting yourself into their family and that just feels wrong to me.

A few years ago decided to make a big cleanup and throw out all my old personal stuff. My old clothes, books, plush toys, everything. I never liked having a past and memories. This was a big step in removing those things, and it's permanent because it can't be undone. It felt really good.

I think I can come up with a name that doesn't feel that way. I guess if I'm on ma maybe change my first and last name then maybe I should change my middle too...

I don't know. People don't own last names. I realize there are lineage implications there but family is still family. And "family" can be whatever you want it to be. This is particularly important in the lgbtq community when genetic families don't accept someone. Names can be really important on both sides and are valuable to identities on both sides. But I don't think it's like stealing. Especially since some married couples change their last names. And I know that this situation is "getting into a family" but it is sort of creating a new family. Which is what could be said of anyone who changes their name and should be able to do, I think.

Or you are starting your own path. What if your family don't accept yourself and you want to create your own family?

Yes, If someone doesn't particularly get the warm fuzzies from their family then changing names, first and last seems like a welcome and needed change.

I threw 10 years worth of personal diaries and journals into a fire pit and haven't looked back. I stood there and made sure every last page burned. It was all self serving rubbish that I didn't want anyone to ever lay their eyes on. It felt freeing actually.

Well, I'm not sure if this is permanent but I feel like I've finally given life a second shot and I'm really gonna try to live.
This is amazing because I've been suicidal since I'm 12! I've always wanted to die, let's say. However, now I don't.

I wanna live for all those I love and who love me back. I wanna beat this goddamn bipolar disorder and die as an old grey man but thing is...

Will I be able to?

I wonder...!
