Has anyone here ever attempted full suspension and failed? Do you mind sharing your experience? What kind of ligature did you use? How badly did it hurt? Did you pass out? Did the ligature break? Did someone find you?

I haven't but the cases that I have seen for failure generally have involved that there can be noise and then someone hears and pulls someone down, or else someone just happens to come along; it seems like one of the most reliable methods if a person has a building to themselves, for instance. The arms and legs can flail about as they lose oxygen, so there can be banging noises on anything within reach.

No answer from me would be useful to you. I have a bedsheet in the basement tied on a pull up bar but when it came to kicking the chair I couldn't bring myself to have the resolve. It sounds dumb but you can test the strength by tying it to your arm in a closet and pulling it really hard to see if it holds or not, this is also a way of testing if the knot stays. As for the physical feeling of having it around my neck, it's very tight and not at all comfortable. It will be physically red after that for a little bit after untying but not so bad to be noticed if someone wasn't paying attention. A couple minutes of pain remain after untying but it's not anything long term or anything. I imagine anything tight around your neck would be like that, a rope just offers more length so it's not as suffocating if you kick the chair.

@Lady black said he failed a full suspension attempt. He quickly lost consciousness and it was peaceful but he was rescued. I'm writing this because it seems he isn't active here anymore so can't answer by himself.

Did you find his post or do you remember him saying that?

I've failed. Dressing gown cord used. It broke. Not surprising seeing as I'm 13 stone. Was desperate and not planned well. Now I haven't got the balls to try again. A failure makes you less confident and dealing with the shame of a failure.

Really wanting to know the answer. I have a nylon rope which holds 300lbs. Hoping for short drop from tree branch, slipknot high on neck and stepping off a chair. Any tips welcome.

i almost succeeded exactly a year ago, i kicked my dresser over and hung from a bar i have hanging over my door using some kink rope my ex bought me. i hung there for maybe 15 seconds with my muscles relaxed, but survival instinct kicked in and a clothes hamper i had infront of my dresser kept it from falling down entirely so i was able to pull it back up with my feet. i ponder a lot on what wouldve happen if the hamper had fallen over under the weight of my dresser, since then i havent had the balls to try again it was kinda traumatic. i had severe pain in the muscles my lower abdomen from over exerting myself and a big burn scar across my neck.

Yes, multiple times. Each time ligature was different - scarf, sheet, rope, electric cable. It does hurt every time. The first time I ended up with 7 stitches in my chin. Panic/ survival instinct and poor knot tying skills made me give up on this method

I failed twice. First time because the hanging point was not high enough and my toes were just and just able to touch the floor or was it a cushion and I was able to get back up by getting my feet on the cushion and then from there on the chair. If it had been a few centimeters higher I'd be much happier right now.

The second time I failed because I wasn't able to do it mentally.
