I don't mean that you've previously been to protests, or fought for reform.

I mean the kind of leftism that takes over your entire life for a decade. The anarchist one where any state at all is completely rejected. It's a world view that says the west specifically is so removed from any collective, communal thinking that anyone subjected to western societies are rendered alienated and individualised.

Anyway, that type of world-view. Anyone here been practising, for at least 5 years in a committed way, and realised its a scam?

It's been so brutal to lose my social world, while actually retaining my world-view. I can't really accept a lot of what non-radical leftism expects us to, but at the same time?

I'm alive. I'm watching. The west is now being won over by tech oligarchs. Hate em all, shout out to palantir specifically for ruining the reputation of gay, autistic men.

But meanwhile, I see the last 12 years of my life that I've invested into unpaid labour against this nightmare to have been essentially a stand-in distraction for the true situation- there's no escaping.

We are stuck here.

Not looking for leftists (especially younger ones) to give me the party lines that are meant to be convince me our struggles are worth it - alll due respect, I know them all.

Who's here that knows what I'm saying? Who is here that knows what it's like to have a crisis of serious leftist faith?

The loneliness is hectic. Please hit me up if you at all see yourself in this. Losing your whole identity, meaning and purpose is a brutal blow when your world-view remains one that rejects the current social set up.

Especially when your default is wanting to CTB, even before exiting the - dare I say - cult of revolution.

I voted left or green in the past but i just can't anymore. I recently lost a friend group with which i met regularly for computer-gaming over my change. Now i am searching for new gaming buddies but it's hard for someone who is as shy as me. At least i got a bunch of singleplayer games i didn't even touch yet to play in the meantime.

I wasn't a big activist. I knocked on doors for Dems. But yes, I think a left wing "liberatory" outlook basically ruined my life. I was big on atheism too. Which I think is still correct? I mean, it's not like the world is 6,000 years old. But I remain a big fan of Catholicism. People need to be warned about sin and basically organize their lives around avoiding it. I didn't really worry about whether I was a vicious person until it was too late.

Respect the old, learn from tradition, work hard and keep your mouth shut when you're young.

Extremism on any belief is not a good path. But it doesn't even take extremism to fuck things up royally. Lots of folks claim to be "in the middle" who really aren't. Money and power tend to run things, because people who have money and power always want more of it and most everyone else who doesn't have either or both want both as well so they tend to support paths that tease them with the mere possibility that they might one day be allowed in the special club of power and wealth.

Most people will never have either, much less both... but will continue to be led down the wrong path that doesn't help them at all. Conservatives and Progressives are all too often just using the labels and their actual beliefs and ruling/spending patterns do not support the claimed world-view. And, as I said, people claiming to be in the middle often adopt that as a label to seem like an option when really they lean more to one side or the other OR have their own worldview that still excludes most over their own selfish needs.

Bottom line... the people in power work hard to convince everyone else that they must pick a side to "win" when the reality is the powerful and wealthy are on their own side so you picking a team doesn't matter in the grand scheme.

Yes of course this post has brought peoples political shit out, but to clarify for anyone else- looking for ex-practising far leftists who still believe the fundamental worldview but are willingly alienated from the social (and practical) world of the world view, for whatever reason.

It's a big part of why CTB became so appealing. That worldview gives you an identity, moral framework, relationships, jobs, housing etc. When you are committed to it. Leaving it is not really about your politics, it's about the damage it is does to bail, I suppose. I'm looking for a single person that gets that

You're not really describing what the fundamental worldview even means tho? What do you even mean by leftism? You mean performative leftists? yeah they exist, be more specific.

I always voted for people who wanted the best for my country, who advocated for abortions being legal, less animal cruelty, more opportunities for people of other ethnicities, for people without a family, free healthcare, etc. I never stopped doing this because the other choices in my country (not the US) are literal cartoon hitlers, like there is absolutely no way I'm voting for them, I always said that the WHOLE lgbtq+ community and every progressive feminist can hate me for all I care, I won't suddenly change my worldviews out of spite.

If you're talking about performative leftism I do agree with you, I just left it by becoming a person who actually tries to put my money where my mouth is. Idk I don't trust performative leftists today but I didn't leave anything behind because of it, I'm just me and they're just putting on a performance for their own hedonistic pleasures that they want out of others, humans have always done this, a political party or world view doesn't make a person better than they are.

Idk if this is what you expected to hear but as someone who doesn't like the average leftist and DESPISES the shitty right wingers, these are my views. Also there is a politics thread in off topic section because these discussions usually end up extremely toxic because people disagree.

yeah I just dont care anymore. I mean obviously I do, I still hold a lot of the values and I can't deny that when I react a certain way to things in my head. so it's definitely still there. but I just dont care. at the end of the day theyre all the same. there is no true leftist power, any real left wing leader or party would never get in. I used to be very passionately left. very left, not at all liberal. but all my time spent reading and engaging in useless debates online meant nothing and I realised that not long ago. whats the point in me, someone who literally doesnt matter in any way, trying to push the 'fight' when I can't do anything? there isnt even any fight, people who are in positions of power will fight for one thing and one thing only, and thats money. they dont actually care about the majority of people. its just stupid. ive drifted away from politics these days. im still passionate in my head and I still have my values, but as far as being someone who spent a majority of their time a while ago reading and stuff, im just not the same
