Just got hung up on.
Really can't take anymore of their self-centered (all me all the time) mindset and constant complaints.
Kinda nice in a way since I only communicate when absolutely necessary and now they won't be calling me.
Just a vent.
Carry on.

Like I have mentioned on here so many times, the day after I turned 18 back in 1974, my "parents" dropped me off on a street curb with NO food, NO money, NO shelter, NO job, NOTHING and drove away and I never heard from them again, 100% their choice.

Now, I have an older brother and a younger sister, that have not spoken to me since at least 1990, my "parents" poisoned their minds about me, in fact when my brother and sister each got married, I was NOT invited and I just found out that my sister's daughter, my niece, is getting married, and again no invite ever, as I have never even seen a picture of my niece.

So, the aspect of family, besides this site, is a complete mystery to me.

I have always wondered what being invited over for Sunday dinner and sitting around the dining table and sharing a laugh and stories was like, as I will never experience it.

Oh my God yes. My sister who is 2 years older than me. I blocked her on my phone a few years ago (not that she ever called me but she did message to order me around and provide her typical insults), recently unblocked her, turned out to be a mistake, and she is now blocked again.

I also communicate when absolutely necessary.

My family would say that I'm the pain in the ass. Because... I left Jehovah's Witnesses. They all stopped talking to me. Entire extended family. So yep, it's me. I really don't care.

There is a large part of my family that are all just straight up asses but we do not talk to them so it is not an issue. I really do not have the energy to deal with family members that are not a source of positivity in my life.

Of the family membera we do talk to, one is kind of annoying in that he seems to not always make the best life choices and then we have to deal with yet another crazy girlfriend/wife at family get togethers. Then they get divorced 3 years later which everyone saw coming from day one. 1-2 years later he has found another one and the cycle repeats. 😩

Yes, my abusive mother. She's hated me ever since I can remember and was the cause of my first attempt when I was toddler. At least once a week or so I get a landslide of abusive texts from her over finances.

She added me to her car insurance to help me save money, which I thanked her for, and then I expressed a concern about the insurance policy (for her sake! The thing I mentioned would effect her!) and in comes the vitriol. Calling me names, cussing at me, etc.

She said I have been ungrateful my entire life. I don't know what it feels like to be grateful or ungrateful. The only emotions I can pinpoint in myself are happiness, anger, sadness, and fear. But I try my best to always show thanks and respect verbally.

But why should I be grateful to someone who puts me down every chance she gets? If you're doing something kind for someone, you should be doing it because it's the right thing or because you want to be kind, not because you want thanks or for someone to fawn over what a wonderful person you are. I work in education and the most I ever do is remind students that it's considered polite to say thank you, or point out when something they've said or done could be considered disrespectful. I don't expect them to be grateful for me helping them. It's my job and I enjoy doing it.

But anyway...I really want to CTB to call my mom's bluff. Imagining what she would feel after I'm gone is almost delicious. But I know I wouldn't be there to see it. My main motivations for wanting to CTB are my family and finances, so in a situation like the one I just described with my mom, it's very tempting and hits all the wrong (right?) buttons.

I can identify with one. I was homeless at 17. I cant remember sitting down for thanksgiving, or having to blow the candles off a birthday cake. In fact I dont celebrate my birthday. Maybe that part is good.

Like I have mentioned on here so many times, the day after I turned 18 back in 1974, my "parents" dropped me off on a street curb with NO food, NO money, NO shelter, NO job, NOTHING and drove away and I never heard from them again, 100% their choice.

Yep. And he drives me nuts. Smartest thing I have ever done is just ignore him. I do my thing, he does his (which is complain incessantly about what a horrible life he has had when it has actually been quite the opposite). Some people are just aren't happy unless they are miserable and doing their best to make everyone around them miserable too. Just tune them out.

Another update. A neighbor friend disrespected me and I decided to set boundaries. Didn't end the relationship (tends to speak without thinking, but I'm done taking shit from people), but will keep on the superficial going forward. Is there a freakin full moon or what?! 🙄😡

A long time ago, back in the 1960's a very old person told me this and I have always kept it with me: " If it comes to that point, then if a person is smiling at you they are pulling the wool over your eyes, if they are angry with you, then they could not take advantage of you".

100% agree with you. If it comes to that point, then a person either stands up for themselves or they are a door mat.

I have through the decades had people who got "mad" at me because they could NOT take advantage of me, and I just laughed at the situation and moved on.

Guess what? They were ALWAYS in that mode, and I did not waste my time with that type of stupidity.
Lots of well wishes my good friend.

Me too! I wish I had a family period! As an adopepted child, I'll never experience any of this. I often wondered how it must feel to have a family, cousin, aunt, uncle, grandma, mom, dad, etc. I don't know if I should be happy about this or not?
