Anyone ever been put to sleep at the hospital?

Its been a little while for me but i have been put under many times. It's really a very peaceful experience. It sure would be nice if death could replicate that. I believe with the right drugs it could.

I had Anesthesia once for an operation and I wasn't ready for it but lights out almost immediately after having the mask put on, it was scary but ok because it was quick.

Another time they gave me a bunch of pills and I didn't know what they were or what to expect, one must have been a sleeping pill or sedative which made me feel like someone had drained all of my energy for a few minutes before I lost consciousness.

I wouldn't like to experience the pills again but it would be better than the pain from most other suicide methods if I choose overdose.

Yes! Two spine surgeries as a kid. It was so peaceful to drift away within just a few minutes. But then I woke up with nausea. I wish I could just get an injection like that and disappear and never wake up (except in the resurrection at the last day).

Yup, multiple times for surgeries. I don't think I even had dreams, it was just complete nothing every time. I really hope theres same nothing after death.

Yeah, I've had it a few times. Once in the hospital for a tonsillectomy, but I was only 4 or 5, and really don't remember much of it, and then a couple more times, similar to total anesthesia, during colonoscopies, also which I don't remember anything about (and glad I don't). Must have all been peaceful, though. I don't remember anything not peaceful about the experiences. If only........

Once. Don't know what kind it was but I was out in a few sec. There was a skylight above me and my vision zoomed in on it and then I was out. I slept slightly longer than the doctors expected. I think I was actually sleeping (or similar) during the last couple of minutes before I woke up.

Once when I was around 8 or so. I remember being asked to choose a sticker from this big sheet while the propofol was injected. I choose one fairly quickly and proceeded to look at the syringe, which made the nurse panic because she was afraid I would so she yeeted the sticker sheet in my face. "Chooooseanotherone!!!" And I got what she was trying to do so I choose one even quicker, turned my head to the syringe again and was immediately asked to choose another one. Then I remember feeling as if my eyes were closing, then I woke up to my mother looking worried, vanilla ice cream and three stickers for the price of one. Overall quite the pleasant experience.

Propofol is used for hypnotic-sedation without anesthesia (endoscopy e.g.)

I have done that two times, always was an extremely pleasant experience. I remember falling asleep and dreaming of a gigantic white completely empty room with only me.

I had a general anesthetic 11 years ago, when a misbehaving appendix had to be removed. I remember getting the injection. I remember lying there thinking Nothing is happening, this isn't working. And then I remember a nurse talking to me as I was coming back to consciousness. Everything in between is a complete blank.
The difference between being generally anesthetised and being dead is quite narrow, so it would certainly be a peaceful way to ctb. I presume that being dead would be like the bit in between: nothing at all.

I feel the same way, I always tell people this is what I think death feels like.

Except in special cases, the intravenous anesthetic used to induce anesthesia is propofol (my method). Before propofol it was thiopental. Propofol works very quickly. Depth of surgical sedation and onset of apnea in just 15 - 20 seconds. It's a complicated method for CTB since it's IV only.

I feel jipped on my experience. I don't remember a damn thing. Don't remember being knocked out or coming to. Just in the operating room and being told to get dressed☹ What a dud.

I've had 2 plastic surgeries and underwent general anesthesia both times. The first time I remember that there was a weird chemical smell when they put the mask on me, before I passed out. The second time I only remember the nurse putting EKG leads on me, then I woke up 4 hours later.

Same. I did not find it peaceful, more like eeiry and with a heavy sense of feeling displaced and disoriented.

Plus I woke up in some of the most terrible pain of my life, in a strange and unfamiliar place, with no control over my body. I learned that I really dislike the feeling/experience of general anaesthesia as opposed to deep sleep.

I think the medical environment removes all sense of comfort/peace for me personally. Sleeping soundly brings me reprieve, going into surgery did not.

Yeah I agree, it's not restful like sleep. I did find the second time less disorienting, maybe because I'd met my insurance deductible and got better care?

Benzodiazepines played no role in Michael Jackson's death. He died due to propofol overdose. Propofol plasma concentration was 4 micrograms per milliliter at death. Considering that 5-6 minutes are required from the onset of apnea to 0 percent desaturation, this is a very high concentration. This means that much more than the dose required for induction of anesthesia is given. It was probably not an accident but a planned euthanasia or murder. If you don't want to kill someone, you wouldn't inject twice the anesthesia induction dose.

Yes, and i'm going to experience it in 2 days. They're probably going to use a little bit of fentanyl, just enough to make me go to sleep for a while. I've been fasting since yesterday, eating only very simple bland food, i'm hoping that the effect will be as strong as possible

I wish. I'd also refrain from telling the anaesthetist that I'm allergic to 2 commonly used anaesthetics (suxamethonium and mivacurium) and then it could easily be game over for me.
