Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Anyone else think the internet is a large part of why suicide is skyrocketing?

I, a Millennial, have been exposed to information that would've taken a lifetime before the internet to accumulate. It's like aging mentally at an accelerated rate. Mentally, it's like I'm an old man who's been exposed to everything and is just waiting to die.
There's no doubt, between social media and opiates, the youth in US are dying at alarming rates. Throw in the fact that mental health services can't get a decent budget from any state or reimbursed by insurance companies. Complete and utter societal failure.

I think it is a factor, in that it causes disconnection and isolation.
But not as far as giving people methods-- people successfully CBT without internet advice.

Open your eyes and ears of course it is what do you think all diseases, infections,mental,etc..
Gets better over tim? A cure all pill? Society as a whole is getting smart, the pharmacutical world won't help, the population keeps growing to almost 8 billion, people are faces with more problems and dellimas than they ever had, you get fucked at home,at work,in life,by doctors, pharmacutical co, by government greed, taxes, pressure everyday stress... Of course it's becoming a problem. It doesn't ever get better. Nothing changes it only magnifies worse
I find it funny that people blame social media for increased suicide rates.
Thats whats bad about social media?
Not that it is an inherent cesspool?
Maybe more people kill themselves because they grow conscious of society faster.
Youth matures faster these days, that also means coming in contact with pessimistic views of reality.
I dont know, but this whole we have to protect the youngsters,is kinda silly to me.Before it was metal music, then it was movies and video games, now its social media. How about being responsible parent and not give your child a smart phone until it is 17?
I for one, know that without internet and games i would be dead right now.Dont underestimate how so many people have NO way to escape isolation in the psychical world.
It definitely gives you an escape and distraction from situations that without it,will soon be life or death.
Of all the things people can blame, they really could stop blaming the only thing that gives me information, entertainment and access to knowledge i could have not without.
Lots of thoughtful posts in this thread. I agree that the Internet can be genuinely toxic. I think the Internet can really broadcast the shaming and humiliation of victims allowing groups of predators the ability to attack in ways that non-users never had to contend with in the past.
I would add that economic decline has produced hopelessness and the shame which has led to numerous suicides I don't think that perceived economic failure accompanied by a sense of personal worthlessness is hardly unique to the West. It is has been a factor among Japanese and Korean young people who feel shamed by not meeting expectations. It is not as marked in Vietnam because people have been more apt to blame the system rather than themselves. Modernization in Vietnam is very recent and in years past economic hardship was regarded as a fact of life by many Vietnamese. The battered economy did not allow for great expectations.
No I don't think it's the reason why. In fact I don't think that at all. What I do believe the main reason being is a bit more complicated then a few posts on the internet being said.
As much as I enjoy the internet, I think it's isolating, and has become a kind of insipid, low key addiction for many. With all this comes a potential host of psychological issues that I believe we haven't even worked out yet. The problem with the internet is that it's also a haven for just about every negative aspect of humanity. It lies, it cheats, it scams, it skews. It's difficult to have a healthy relationship with it.
