Sleeping used to be my one escape from the thoughts in my head, now I'm lucky if I can catch two hours a day. It fucking sucks.

Yes, and I'm taking so many Melatonin and Benadryl every night. I have nothing Rx... that would be nice but I know I'd just develop a tolerance for those too. :eh:

If i dont sleep through days with none to wake me up,then i have weeks of insomnia. Nothing inbetween Not sure what to do

That used to be me as well when I was depressed more than anything. But when the anxiety overrides the depression, bye bye sleep.

I have a problem of not being able to sleep at night no matter exercising, taking a shower. When I do sleep I can't sleep long enough and end up extremely lethargic the next day.

Has anyone here tried zolpidem tartate (Ambien, Stillnoct)? I'm getting my script filled next week.

I used ambien for awhile, and it was pretty effective. For awhile. Took 10mg. As you might be able to see from this post, definitely an insomniac. Haven't been to sleep yet. I take a cocktail of prescription meds and otc. Sometimes it works well - sometimes I'm cursing because the sun is coming up. Personally, I'd rather be up all night and sleep during the day. Doing a good job of that at the moment.

I can only sleep after consuming huge quantities of alcohol. I'm hoping my liver will give out shortly.

Using sleep medication may work I'm the very short term, but it will usually not be given long term as it will not work anyway due to tolerance effects. Been there. Less than 1 to 2 hours a night for six months. I'm very aware how this effects your life, so you have my sympathy.
Also, in the long term, sleep aids are likely to make the problem even worse.
I use CBD oil to more gently calm myself. Not sure if it is just a placebo effect, but who cares of it works.

No but I think I have something called sleep inertia where you feel groggy and disoriented after waking up. But I think insomnia would be worst I can't imagine not being able to escape from reality for at least a little while!

I have had trouble sleeping for 3 years, now I have quite severe insomnia, I am thankful when I can sleep 4 or 5 hours.

Yes I can't sleep either. Last night I went to bed but was still awake at 6 in the morning. It sucks. Sleeping used to give me a temporary relief.

That happens to me many times, it is horrible, especially when the next day I have to go to work.

I wouldn't say I have insomnia because somedays I can sleep all day no problem, but I do have certain days I can't get any sleep at all.
