  • Hey Guest,

Honestly, living in supported housing is the worst. It's basically a hostel but one where you never get left alone. Anyone else in an awful living situation?

I share a bathroom with a 40 year old man who shits on the floor and toilet seat on a daily basis, leaving it for me to clean up 🙃

Jeez. That's not cool. Can you shake some sense into him? Lock the bathroom door and give them a bucket to take into the garden. If that's not option then you could plate up their shit and offer it to them for lunch seeing as they're clearly not done with it if they leave it laying around. They must have left it out for an afternoon snack, right?! At very least you could scoop it up and put it into one of their food containers in the fridge or between a couple slices of bread.
:))
I'm sorry you have to live with that!

I've experienced hostel life but not supported living. Sounds tough. Privacy is a place of solace that everyone should have and definitely needs.

Well in my case it's awful do to my chronic illness. I have severe pain hyperacusis. So sound causes me pain. Currently, I have to live with my father. He mows the grass twice a week for hours and so do his neighbors. He has two dogs that bark a lot. The living room television is on a lot and is beside the bedroom I stay trapped in all day everyday. He answers his phone in the kitchen close by and talks extremely loud because he's hard of hearing. Regardless of how much I explain that these activities and many others cause me physical pain and I have to wear sometimes multiple layers of hearing protection, I get no accommodation.

It's just a very patronising place to live. I feel trapped in the system. Not much longer though I guess.

I know people on here can relate. I read on here about how people are in marriages they describe as 'dead' for instance. Everyone has their cross to bear I suppose.

Yeah, I'm still stuck at home at 28. Literally in the same apartment, same room I grew up in. Lots of traumatic memories here, and the overall vibe of my area is pretty dreadful. Everyone just settles here and it feels sad.

My mom used to be very verbally and physically abusive towards me. She hasn't hit me in a couple of years, but I have to walk on egg shells while she takes jabs at me, criticizes everything I do or what I wear, and acts like a probation officer whenever I step foot outside. I've never really been able to live while being here.

My older sister refuses to visit because she says the place has such horrible energy, and I don't blame her. It feels like I'm stuck in some horrible purgatory.

Now that her boyfriend has started living here, it feels even more uncomfortable and I never leave my room. When I'm not here, she locks my door and essentially my cat inside. It's the worst.

A real hostel where one can decide when to be left alone, when to have someone to talk to and play with, when to have meal, without worrying about cleaning, rents and bills... would be ideal.
