I have the feeling that especially for suicidal people, no one is really able to help. Everyone is only trying to get as much money out of you as possible.

Yes, of course. Therapy is literally a scam, and a way to profit off people's suffering. I think this could also be a reason why everyone who is suicidal is labelled as 'mentally ill', and 'irrational' by society, so that money can be made by suicidal people getting 'help'. But yes, nobody can 'help'. Wanting suicide is actually the most rational thing in a world like this, but people would rather lie to themselves than accept suicide as being a valid option.

I agree it's a scam. A lot of the stuff a therapist tells you can be heard on YouTube videos or even self help books. It's just YouTube or books can't give you an official diagnosis. I unfortunately waste the time going to one because it's someone to talk to, since I'm alone and have hardly anyone who takes my issues seriously, or even cares.

Many things exist to create occupations. We're stranded on a rock floating in space. Without a constant supply of activity and means to support life, chaos might ensue.

They cant help people and they know it. They just regurgitate the same advice you could find on google or youtube and call it "help" while putting a price tag on it.

pretty much, i've only been to therapy a few times but found it a huge waste of time. they say the same generic shit you find online and talk super slowly so time goes faster. when i started a new job, i couldn't go to therapy anymore and my therapist wanted to move all my appointments to phone, fuck paying 120$ for a phone call

I went to therapy for the first time when I was really young. Didn't help whatsoever, I felt very weird about how they talked to me about my problems. I tried it over and over again because people kept guilt ripping me about not doing enough for my mental health.

Now I'm convinced that it's just about money. The amount of cash I've burned on it is ridiculous. Over one hundred euros per hour just for a person to tell me pro-life gibberish, which you can find easily on YouTube too. All of that hard earned money is just gone. It makes me livid.

At the point when you are ready to ctb therapy is already too late.
I remember i had some problems to discuss with a psychiatrist and ended up not trusting him because of the methods that he offered.
If he just gave me some antidepressants at that time i would be able to solve my miniscual problems but instead i made even bigger mistakes and now no therapist can help me any more—my problems are now too bad because of the mistakes in life i made

I completely agree here. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a preventative measure.

therapists are horrifically expensive and usually don't take insurance

I think people become talk therapists for the income potential more than the potential for helping people

I did "CBT" for 2 years and it didn't do a thing for me

I think many (if not most) therapists are definitely out for money. But I can't say they all are because my previous therapist was a very caring person, so he is living proof for me. He was a a dude in his 70's who was financially very well-off and clearly does not need more money. He claims he is "retired" yet he teaches at a local community college, volunteers at different shelters once a week, and the rest of his free time is an affordable therapist. But he would agree that most therapists are sharks, but not all of them. Unfortunately it's very, very hard to find the genuine ones, and then you need to hope they don't charge an arm and a leg.

its not every therapist. dont make that generalization or you sound like an unfun pessimist. big pharma is where the corruption is at, many companies willingly ignore illegal drug schemes and source to criminals. if you are interested in the topic, watch "american pain" by cnn, theres a pirated vers on youtube rn. its about two blokes who sped up the opioid crisis with nothing but a few tiny clinics in florida, and mentions the corruption of big pharma.

I will never forget when I had the great fortune and luck to be selected for an experimental cognitive behavioral therapy experiment several years ago. I was allotted 12 sessions in exchange for free therapy. They filmed each session. My therapist was obtuse and unable to comprehend how much pain I was experiencing. It all felt very "NPC therapist leeches off of your dying soul in order to substantiate their mediocre existence within the institution" so one day, I snapped and screamed at the camera. I sobbed and said it was predatory and exploitative to purposefully pick people who needed care but couldn't afford it. I ran out shaking, but proud of myself. Fuck those psych doctorate candidates.
Privatized healthcare feels like turning in circles. So many charlatans peddling self help and whatever cure most profitable for the times. It all feels so meaningless.

Except they don't ask for donations and don't use commandments unlike other types of make believe. They know this type of gambling that therapy is very well, like a game of really good blackjack - take no insurance, increase your bets if the count is positive, that is 200 per hour or over.

I wish also they got their letters correct and offer CTB sessions.

I have the feeling that especially for suicidal people, no one is really able to help. Everyone is only trying to get as much money out of you as possible.
Been to therapy for a bit over a year now with several different therapists. They all tell me the same shit, they say suicide is never the answer. That there are other options and I am able to get better if I try this or this or that. But it doesn't help. Talking about my issues can be relieving yes, but it doesn't make my problems go away. They tell me I need to find a different mindset on how to deal with my problems, that I will be able to live with them. But I cant fucking live with them?? It's so ridiculous how they keep telling me the same thing.

My current therapist doesn't even know what my issues are. I try to lay them out for her but she always goes back to how my motivation for school is low and how I should set goals to graduate while in my head I'm so far away from even wanting a future. She thinks that if I have that goal, I'll be able to push through.
I've been seeing her for months now and it seems like every time I come there it's the same conversation. Like she doesn't even know me. It's such a huge waste of time. I can barely even talk about how I'm just suicidal in general because she always wants me to find a reason. But that reason is never good enough to be so suicidal like I am apparently?

I wouldn't say it's a scam, because I think there's genuinely some therapists out there who want to help people, but some people are impossible to help, no matter how hard you try. Some issues can't just be resolved by therapy.

Obviously healthcare is a scam, you don't need to look any further than insulin to know that. 😂
But specifically for therapy/mental health.. It seems a lot of therapists feel like it's a scam themselves. Of course this is the internet so they could be liars.. but whenever I see an anonymous post from a "therapist", they always seem to feel genuinely helpless when it comes to helping certain people, aka, literally anyone with a moderate to severe mental condition.
Doctors are only as good as the pills they can prescribe, and if those pills don't work or you can't afford it? good luck with the pain, sickness and agony... But don't kill yourself tho we need you to make more money for us~~ but if you can just like, hurry up and starve to death on the street if you stop being useful, that'll be great.. thaaanks~

Oof I was in a similar situation, went to a therapist for social anxiety but every session he brought up my relationship with my parents.

I eventually got angry enough and ran out,, he recommend I might want to talk with a female therapist instead but I've been so skeptical every since.

Some people do well with therapists, and I think others selfreflect a lot already which is why certain methods could be more harmful or frustrating than helpful. It's an absolute shitshow.

it is totally a huge scam, like many other people have said on this thread all the stuff they say to you is constantly regurgitate on youtube for free, the only somewhat "beneficial" factor is talking to someone about something your going through, this is the same person that if you tell you are suicidal they will immediately send you off to a mental hospital which will not make anything better. therapist are basically glorified thieves with a fake promise of making you feel better.
