I am of course trying to find a job 'cause money and stuff. It just seems so shit to read through "We are seeking energetic and happy people to work for us."
Really makes me feel like I have a great shot. Sometimes I just wonder who am I kidding, these people aren't gonna hire my ass.

Yes. Sometimes I search on the deluded hope that I could be happier in another job. All the postings seem so demanding and the jobs miserable. "Tell us why you are uniquely perfect for these mundane tasks and how you handle it when bad things happen! Be positive, loser!"

A lot of them make me laugh and curse!
I know exactly what you mean about the mountain of bullshit you have to shovel through.

Some are a total fekin joke, I've given up looking! I can't be arsed taking shit from some arsehole for eight or nine hours a day. I'm done with it, they can kiss my fat arse and whistle dixie...

Yeah! they certainly want the world handed to them for the least amount of pay that's for sure. Also don't even think about applying without at least 5 years experience.

I wish I could give up looking, I mean I could give up looking but I just bought a kindle and I wanna read at least a few books I acquired for free.
I wish they had specific jobs for people like us though without all the red tape, even just something that was lower income but provided enough leverage to get to the next stages.

I would have given you my kindle for nothing, never used it.
I applied for a job about 12 years ago and the person I was applying to had added me on Facebook. I didn't know this at the time as I seldom used it and only joined after an invite. It was only when I checked the rejection email that I saw her name. So I sent this reply incognito, I was more than qualified and experienced for the position.

I approve of your feedback to that employer Mr. Jaffa Cake
You should sell that kindle and make a buck or two if you never used it! I appreciate it though, I didn't give my arm or leg for it if that makes it any better.

The one job I didn't think I was going to get at all, I ended up getting and hired from. It's busy work though and some days I feel so stressed out I want to step in front of a bus or catch the train behind the building.

Seriously, the job market is garbage. Having a background is even worse. All jobs I've worked tend to play favorites and treat employees like complete shit. Overall, it's jusf not worth the energy or effort.

I get the same feeling from news and social media, TV etc etc so for 15 years I've been in a bubble. Not good in tech\admin. I don't even know how to use Facebook. I've felt anything from frustrated to hopeless. It is a bit sickening for me though how much I took anything for granted

Absolutely yes. I hate the job search, the job search makes me ill. Unfortunately it's a frequent part of my life with how I constantly cycle through shitty jobs

The ads are so nauseatingly fake, or the requirements are unrealistic as fuck, employers expecting the world from employees that they pay like shit. They throw you table scraps and expect you to be grateful and perform at maximum capacity. It disgusts me

There's this call center that both my partner and I worked at a couple of years ago. Shady as hell, manipulative and dishonest management that operates on fear tactics. Give their employees a constant fear of losing their jobs if they don't perform better than the next guy (they fire the bottom 20% of performers each month - if you don't manage to claw your way up, you're out with no questions asked). They had also better not find out that you have bipolar disorder, as they did with my guy, cause they'll fire your ass and then lie to unemployment about the circumstances so that you can't even survive after they kick you out.

Anyhow. I see ads for this place all the time, and it makes my blood boil. All this fake shit about being a happy family, working together towards a common goal, making it sound like this sweet oasis. And there's free soda and coffee! Wow! Don't worry about the coffee from the machine tasting like sawdust though. Lol for fuck sake it's a christian company, so theres also usually some spiel about that... written by a man that has been seen snorting cocain off the dash of his car. Oopsies!

So yeah. This turned into kind of a long rant but I do have a lot of feelings and stories on the matter, I'm very familiar with all the various ways these creative employers come up with to fuck you. I'm tired of it, i don't want to do this shit for the rest of my life

Well put. I'd even say my own blood boils too. I'm just unbelievably grateful I haven't had to have life full of that. And I would rather die than spend a life appeasing or fighting powerful assholes, this world is not for me. Sorry... Bit negative

I hated working in call centers, I've only worked in two the first one was pretty much identical to the way you described your experience, if you didn't meet your metrics they would can you. It's really good for anxiety let me tell you, plus the politics of it all and needing to kiss ass to get ahead. I will never do call center work ever again. Sadly, call centers make up the majority of entry level work that's around here.

I get the same feeling from news and social media, TV etc etc so for 15 years I've been in a bubble. Not good in tech\admin. I don't even know how to use Facebook. I've felt anything from frustrated to hopeless. It is a bit sickening for me though how much I took anything for granted

Tech and admin are making waves in todays job markets, but it's not really a skill. The younger generation can press buttons on tablets and navigate a webpage that's not a big deal. The people with real skills are being swept to the side very quickly and I'm afraid that is a problem in and of itself.

"Come join our team! Part time, must be available at all hours, will not work with you on keeping a consistent schedule, must have a masters degree in physics, pay is $8.00/hr with no benefits."

Seriously, the job market is garbage. Having a background is even worse. All jobs I've worked tend to play favorites and treat employees like complete shit. Overall, it's jusf not worth the energy or effort.

Yeah the job market does suck a lot, not only that but I feel like every time I turn around there is someone out there who made some bullshit product to gouge you out of your money, and now we gotta work at that call center to help support all the people that got gouged out of their money from this stupid product.

Job market is in shambles, particularly in the US. Oh yes, there are plenty of positions open everywhere, but tedious and mundane are the norm. If I put my resume out there, not that I would, I would get very few hits for the opposite reasons: too many years of experience, too many degrees, too many leadership roles. I'm too expensive. Either side of the spectrum is awful.

I find them funny because it is all just mirrors the foundation of lies we blithely labour under and for some reason accept as normal. But I am done playing the game so I can laugh. It reflects how many of us have just become disposable, rendered worthless when competing against the entire globe. How secure jobs for life are rapidly becoming the equivalent of a unicorn and magical paper is less important than who you know and who can open doors for you. This state of affairs is only going to get worse for a host of unpleasant reasons. It doesn't help you have the added poison of needing to be happy, optimistic, enthusiastic all the time, as Debbie downer gets quietly let go even though their criticism were accurate. As if your mood quotient is part of your employment contract. It is all dishonest, you even start off dishonest. The real reasons people take jobs are just so obvious yet this odd stupid dance of words occurs where you can't admit the obvious.

An Honest Job interview.

"Why do you want this job?"

"Well I have rent to pay, utilities to pay, car insurance to pay, I like video games, they cost money. I like the cinema that also costs money. Petrol also costs money, that is pretty vital for getting around. Taking my grandmother out to bingo each Sunday also costs money. Come to think of it I can't think of much that does not cost money. I want this job because I want money, because everything costs money."

This world we live in is so utterly absurd.

Nice post, ties in perfectly with why society does not want you to die or CTB. How can you feed the economic machine if you are dead?

In the UK, among the worst off areas cut out the big businesses, one town got their local management to see sense and reinvest locally instead of sending the money elsewhere letting it filter up. But you get the sense of the scale of the probkem

Sell the deads organs, turn it into a new market. Make desperate people compete in games for those organs. The winner gets the liver they need! YAY Turn it into add revenue and merchandising. Invest in science and pioneer a zombie virus. Resurrect the dead and then fill all soulless bureaucratic positions with them, paying them in sheeps brains. I doubt service standard will drop all that much, and if an occasional person gets eaten by a zombie, that is more organs for sale! It is entirely win win.

Sorry I am being crass.

This has always been a big problem for me, is the damn dance you have to do for interviews. I'm not good at doing a display, and I'm not good at jerking off authority to make myself look good. The process is just so ridiculous and serves no purpose other than gauge how subservient you are, how willing you are to kiss ass and give false praise to this company you don't really give a shit about.

I work hard, but I'm always ripped to shreds anywhere I do manage to get employed, because I don't play politics, I don't play their bullshit games, I'm honest about who I am and what I'm about. Like I just wanna do my fucking job and go home, and meanwhile everyone is trying to claw their way up the ladder at the expense of everyone else.

i want out

Yeah when I've read about job descriptions I cringe at how ridiculous they are. It's no surprise that the economy sucks, many people (even those who are well-adjusted) struggle to find gainful employment. Then those who do are disillusioned and either break down, get laid off, get fired, or quit due to the pressure and shit. I've actually started working and each day seems like a tedious grind, just wanting to be done with the day so I can go home and relax.
