For me, the idea of working full time for 40+ years, having a family, and dying of old age is not appealing at all. I used to work with the elderly and I don't want to be near that point at all, I don't even want to be older than I am now. It doesn't feel like the fun things in life like traveling even outweigh how long and boring life is. I just want to be asleep forever.

You can start a business and work for yourself.
You can choose not to get married.
You can take your own life once you get old.

Life is full of possibilities.
It doesn't have to be like how others do it.

Envision how you want to live it and definitely stay true to yourself.
It's important.

Many people see life as a miracle, as something incredible, etc. I don't take this view at all. I find that life is in many ways predictable, plain, and dogmatic with how limited and frail everything is, and it's physical laws, as well as those laws enforced by people. How everything is subject to decay. It takes no effort at all to imagine a world better than this one, which is rather disappointing.

In one sense, life is a miracle. The odds that you, with all your super specific traits, can be born into this vast universe where the possibilities of creation are literally infinite, can be viewed as being quite remarkable.

In another sense, the vastness of the universe can render your specific life rather insignificant — a meaningless fluke designed to last less than a century in a universal history at least 150,000,000 times as long as your lifespan, on a tiny insignificant planet, one of 10 septillion in the known universe.

My petty life doesn't matter. My presence or absence changes almost nothing. Any pain caused by my departure is little more than a speck in the infinite annals of time.

So life can suck it.

Reading, thinking to myself: Oh fuck. Pro-life. I really liked them.

Then...

So life can suck it.

Yeah, I ordered some SN that should be here in a few days. I'm going to wait to do it for a few weeks though because my dad wants to go backpacking and I'd like to spend quality time before he never sees me again. I probably would have gone earlier if night night was more easily doable.

Yeah I've always always hated the idea of being a money slave. It's literally all we're good for (poor people). I am not into the usual stuff like traveling or partying or family, it makes me physically sick. I'd be very happy if I didn't have to worry about money and security and could just be by myself.

As soon as I've become self-aware, critical, and gained rational thinking, I start to see that life is an imposition of sentience onto a non-sentient being such that said non-sentient being had no say in whether to exist or not. In a sense, we are all conceived against our will. Also, with how no one is guaranteed anything in life (but taxes and death) nor entitled to anything in life, yet expected to participate, contribute to society, to others, just makes me not like it. It's a game that is imposed on us and if we tried to quit (via CTB) and failed in doing so, we are punished by incarceration at a mental health facility (hospitals, ERs, and psych wards, etc.). Thus, we aren't free and we have to do things in secret and hope everything works out.

I guess there are some things in life worth living for. But not in my case. Once youre done with life youre just done, and thats about it. Eternal sleep sounds great. No more obligations or bills to pay or bullying and stuff.. back to when you were a fetus. Listen, life is complex, boring, lenghty.
Who likes that? No one.

The idea of it sucks. I feel like I'll never be enough or be able to do enough in life. It's a competition I can never win and I'm my own worst enemy with my crippling emotions and lack of skill.

I've always felt this. There are rules by which you must abide in any society. What if you don't want to abide by them? I suppose you could choose a different society if that option is available to you. And if not? Well, you should have the right to take your own life. But no... you don't have that right either. If you want that, you are mentally ill. If you are a threat to yourself, we have to put you in a ward so you don't hurt yourself. MAKES NO SENSE!

Since I was 15 I have felt that life is basically pointless, and that sleeping forever sounds attractive, and I continue to feel that way now that I am 67. However, I have also found that the journey through life can be fun at times and is not always boring. In my case, those things have been enough to offset, perhaps only temporarily, the disadvantages. It is perhaps not a good idea to abandon life if your only reason for doing so is that the "idea" - your word - does not seem appealing. Give life a try, and find out for sure whether or not it is appealing. If you have enough experience to be CERTAIN that life is not for you, then it may be time to do something about it. But not before then. In my case, my health is starting to fail, and if my husband dies I will have no reason to remain here, and I will not remain. I don't want to finish up like the elderly people you refer to either.

I have been looking forward to death for as long as I can remember. I hope that after death there is simply nothing. From that perspective, there is nothing to regret. You can't miss being alive. You are not missing out on what could have been. So my philosophy is try to have a good life, enjoy what it offers. When the pain is too much, I will end my life. That is nothing for me to be sad about. I have already signed a living will that I should never, under any circumstances, be resuscitated. I have no intention of dying of any medical condition or of old age.

Hey Rundschlinge78

were you in my head and reading my mind?

It's really simple we come here make some noise that doesn't even matter in grand scheme of things then we fuck off.
The whole experience is vey bizarre but the universe has provided the exit button that one can take no big deal.
Human life is so insignificant from a universal prospective that makes me feel so much better about my non-existence.

I pretty much agree with you, and just to add my 2 cents, when I do hobbies and stuff that make me happy (in my case drawing for example) I give it some value but even after finishing a great great drawing or whatever life is still so empty. I assume thats what you feel. It's just not worth it.

The inadequacies of life are why philosophies such as nihilism, antinatalism, absurdism and existentialism are so intriguing.

Something that has always interested me is that the general population pretend they're happy and content in their lot and yet abuse psychoactive substances because something is missing that they're trying to find by warping their perceptions. And we know how people will take this quest to extremes.

I'm mentally ill and experience mania, warped perception etc naturally, and I wonder why the normal people try so hard to have experiences like me, which are always damaging, regardless of how amazing or terrible they might feel.

Life is pain. Fact.

I also feel that I'm my worst enemy. My social anxiety disorder is getting so bad that's it's hard to leave the house. I self medicate with alcohol which makes it worse. I was sticking around for my small family but I'm going to leave soon. I don't hate life but mine sucks. I feel helpless and just tired of trying.

I'm not into life because life is like a prison to me, a prison where i was sentenced to doing hard labor even though i committed no crime.

It's too bad you are ctb ing soon . This thread is among the best i've seen and you as the OP and others on this thread are opening my eyes to reality (or confirming some realizations i already had formed but heard no where else to validate my ideas).

This website SS is the only place i've seen truth written or said.
