For me, ive been really fond of Alex Gs songs (specifically Nintendo 64) and Adrianne Lenkers. But i feel like im missing out on some creators and id like to know and hear what songs others listen to during rough times. Any recommendations?
Me being cliche and unoriginal - Linkin Park of course, esp Meteora album and some other songs.
And sth not so obvious: RIP Pagan - Lost soul. Also: KITARO - Silk Road II

I have many different bands across so many genres (black metal, death metal, sludge metal, nu metal, nugaze/grunge-gaze, punk, prog rock, etc.), that I can basically summarize what I listen to with this: if it has a guitar melody you can mosh to, drums that you can feel pound in your chest (either live or just recording if blasted loud enough), lyrics that aren't happy or talk about enjoyable things in the slightest, and there's at least one scream (be it a more "sing scream" like Chester Bennington did, or a far more primal and visceral scream like Kurt Cobain would do), then I'll listen to it. The screaming part isn't a requirement for a lot of faster and/or heavier rock or metal songs (there are quite a few Rise Against songs that have no screaming that I rank in my top 5 by them), but if the song is slower or not as heavy hitting, then there needs to be at least one scream in it for me to enjoy it.
I'm a simple man; me hear spine chilling scream, me happy.
My quote at the bottom is actually a lyric from one of their songs "Oh what a wretched man I am".
I've been listening to them for like 6-7 years and relating to the lyrics helps me feel less alone. That so many people go through what I go through and that so many are continuing to push on and I want to be one of those people. Like the artists wanted to really kill themselves and were drug addicts but they were able to pull themselves out of the terrible pit they were in into something better. I don't think fame did it because fame can't solved addiction and depression. Although they did want to commit suicide together if they didn't make it big. They made it really big though.
It also that relating to the lyrics allows me to listen for so long and be distracted and out of my thoughts because I could just focus on things in a different way. It makes me disconnect from my feelings for a while and not be have to be feeling terrible because I can't focus on anything else.
They are the only artists I've found that I have listened to for a really long time and also the only that I can relate to in such a strong way.
