Just wondering if theres any sociopaths here, and if so does it contribute to your suicidal-ness?

For me i don't understand people at all, and it makes it hard to live. i dont love my family. i dont care for people. i don't understand why i should go through years of school, just to work until im old. i dont understand social norms. Nothing is at all thrilling and the chronic boredom feels like theres a perpetual itch in my brain.

Anybody else??

I'm not a sociopath at all but the longer deal with my visual impairment I have felt my personality change.

I seem to be a lot more pragmatic and practical.

This is due to my only goal being to improve it across the board because it will open a lot of doors and avoid my fate of being temporarily disabled as a young man.

I only talk with people for a long time or go somewhere if it benefits my condition or the household.

I don't like talking about nothing important for hours and hours.

I have trouble relating and blending in with other people because I can't see well enough to do my previous hobbies with ease, it's really annoying.

I was labelled as such at a young age but never formally diagnosed. I don't believe i am one, but I also neither understand or empathize with the vast majority of people nor want to, it comes down to loyalty for me
I can't love my family or empathize with people just because they passively exist.

Edit: I lied. I do believe I understand most people and that is why I hate them

All of this. It does contribute but mostly because of my actions on life catching up with me. I do not understand why some people are made this way.

i don't know if this is a stupid take, but I wished I was born a psycho or socio, an anti-social

Why?

Because empathy makes me weak. I don't like that I am "human" and because of that, be manipulated by humans. I don't like to hold back against people due to emotion; I wanna act rationally in a way with no moral qualms. I wanna be that guy who can charm others just for their use and dispose if they malfunction.

Currently, I'm a bit anti-social, but cannot really replicate the brain of a socio. Those people are just different, I envy them 🤣

What you described is reasonable and doesn't describe sociopathy at all.
Sociopaths get this kick out of hurting others. My mother was a sociopath.
Most sociopaths end up in prison or they become this kind of person who bullies others in their workplace.

What they are describing are actual symptoms of ASPD (aka "sociopathy"). What you are describing are sadists, not sociopaths. Different S word.

One of the alters in our system has ASPD symptoms, so I could always ask her how she feels. No idea if she'd answer though.

As for me, I don't have ASPD, but I have autism and a brain disorder that strips my "happy chemicals." The disorder (PANS) has been kicking up lately so I can relate on the front of chronic fucking boredom and social issues since it affects my autism + alexthymia too. It is absolutely making me want to CTB.

Okay, this is super relatable as someone with depleted Affective Empathy 🫂

It isn't just "liking being alone," it's more than that. Personality disorders are maladaptive reactions to trauma (with some genetic components of predisposition). Schizoid has to have some element of disrupting the person's life (home, work, relationships, etc) to be diagnosed. All PDs do.

I love that you're a sociopath and your name is Micah Bell😁. I assume that you have gotten formally diagnosed because what you describe sounds like actual ASPD instead of the hollywood version of sociopathy. I'm don't have ASPD and I actually don't have a single symptom of it according to the personality test I took with my psychiatrist (SCID-II).

However I've read about it tho and people that have it do have a higher risk of suicide. ASPD people also suffer from substance abuse more often. I think the lack of emotional connection to other people can contribute to this. Also, having a traumatic childhood highly increases the chance of ASPD. I'm sorry for the stigma you have to face caused by illiterate people, greedy psychiatrists and hollywood.

There's a book called "The psychopath inside" that's written by a psychiatrist who did research on the brain of serial killers and accidentally discovered he was a "psychopath". He was pretty much a normal person who didn't have a crime record or any need to hurt people.

It's alot more likely that you're autistic and depressed than a sociopath. Most sociopaths aren't self-aware and the ones that are wouldn't admit to being one.

I am friends with multiple people with ASPD. They are as open as they can be without putting their livelihoods at risk. It is a myth that any personality disorder is "less likely to be self aware"—in fact, on the topic of autism, I have had a harder time convincing autistic people that their autistic rigidity is preventing them from seeing nuance in important situations than I have had telling to people with PDs.

Please do research from actual sources and not pop psychology. As an autistic person who has had a special interest in psychology since childhood (as well as someone who has two sister disorders to ASPD), they are describing ASPD. Not autism.

I don't have much knowledge in the field, but I am skeptical of a self-diagnosed sociopath. Maybe I'm wrong to be skeptical, though idk I don't have much knowledge in the field.

Where did they say they are self-diagnosed? Clearly you added your own bias to the situation. I'd imagine there are plenty of people diagnosed with ASPD on sites like this.

Also, you can always bolster your knowledge through research. The bare minimum is reading the DSM-5-TR, I have a link to a copy.
