Hello there, is there any religious or spiritual people there ?

I am personally catholic, even if it's hard for me to conciliate suicide with my faith.

I totally realize it.
I know that I don't respect the value of my life, that my feeling of injustice is not based on the good perception. I've been doing theology for many years.
But I can't go against my suicide, already tried for years. I am counting on God comprehension and his perception on the good I did in my life.
Church's teaching about suicide isn't the same as before, I don't think it is Hell for all the people that killed themselves. And I will see what is deserved for me, even if it's a big fair I am ready to accept it.

Not quite. I would like to believe and have some faith, but haven't found one religion yet. There are so many, how are we supposed to to know which one is the right one?
Although I admit that during the darkest phases I have given it a thought. I think people sometimes just need something to believe and have faith on. Even if it's all a lie, it gives some kind of confort believing in a superior entity

You don't find a religion, it's like a deep attracting. I didn't choose to be catholic, I was just naturally attract by the liturgy, the emotion during an office and the intelligence of it. I wasn't searching for it and wasn't in need for it at this time. Or, not even need of religion, just a deep feeling that there is a God or something superior.
Yeah sometimes the idea of believing in a superior entity is comforting, but it's not always the case and believing isn't only "comfortable", it can bring sacrifice, fear, pain...

Catholicism - fear of hell - blocked me from suiciding when my capacity (boldness) to do so was much greater. Dying those years ago would've spared me a lot of posting, and I'd have missed no good experience.

Cheer up: there are no gods!

Hey hun..I do believe in God..I don't consider myself to be "religious" because it kinda has a negative connotation..I have a relationship with God. Granted, I'm on a low place right now, but I def believe He exists..

Well I know a lot of "religious" ppl who think u must look or act a certain way in order for God to accept u..not true..but when u have a relationship with Him, u realize u don't have to get caught up in a look, or act..it's kind of like having a friend, that loves u the way u r..

I used to pray more but I am currently in a season where, cuz of trauma n my own personal shame, where I don't like u used to..but I did cry out to him today in sadness n frustration, which is a language He understands n interprets..

I have no faith. I wish I did. I was raised as a Roman Catholic and taught by nuns and priests. I have A levels in guilt to prove it.
I just can't feel faith it's like an alien concept to me and I'm jelous of those that can.
Instead, I study, in an effort to understand everyone else's faiths and philosophies and mythologies but I can't cling to anyone of them.

I think the god you were talking to is your subconscious mind (which is good). Everyone knows the power of the mind. Good luck.

I was brought up church of England and my upbringing was VERY churchy. I'm certainly agnostic now, borderline atheist. It's a shame but it's the most rational mindset I think.

Growing up, I had basically no exposure to religion, and I'm kind of grateful for that because it's given me a chance to find my own way to God or spirituality or whatever.

It benefits me to think that there's something out there that has my best interests at heart, wants me to be well, and will listen to me. Who knows if we ever really find out, but it's okay if I'm wrong. I don't really care anymore. It's enough to have something that helps me get through rough days.

I am definitely religious/spiritual. I became a Christian a few years ago and while I personally have never doubted God's existence since, lately I have started to really hate Him. Any prayer I used to have has turned to angry sobbing and screaming, questioning why He is choosing to do nothing, rather even continuously heaving more suffering on those who have already experienced more than what they should ever have had to handle. I can more or less deal with my own pain, but it crushes my soul to know and see those I love suffer to such a degree.

I haven't lost my faith in the traditional sense, but something is definitely lost there, and right now I don't even want it back.

Science would be my religion if it were a religion. I've never been able to reconcile humankind's ability to have faith in any religion or a god. I believe that many things in the bible probably happened, but they were greatly exaggerated. I believe jesus was real, as in a real person (human) he probably had a way about him that seemed magical so naturally people followed him. Without explanation through science humans have always created elaborate tales of fiction to explain what they didn't understand.

All that being said I still don't know what will happen when I die, but I am fairly certain that I won't be standing at pearly gates in front of a bearded guy or sitting in front of devil in a lake of fire! I do wish reincarnation was real since I always wanted fly (this explains my avatar). I often dream of flying or have thoughts of being a bird and flying. I prefer to be high (in elevation that is, climbing mountains) and sleep better when I am far off of the ground. In a way I will be reincarnated since when die and start decomposing I will eventually be returned to the earth as molecules which will be used to create something else. We are all made stars - Moby, that is all :)

I'm not religious myself, though I have read the bible. How is it you're telling someone they can't find religion?

Not everyone is born into it as I was, some literally stumble into it. &I remember something about even faith the size of a mustard seed is enough (I'm loosely paraphrasing).

If it brings them comfort who are you to refute that?

When someone prays to God it is natural to think it's one on one , in reality a million or ten million could be praying at the same time as you , could you even begin to imagine the sound of all the collective voices . I would say it must be overwhelming.

Honestly, I'm so constantly infuriated with God nowadays, I really hope it is overwhelming. It doesn't really align with what the bible says, but hey, a girl can hope. If so many are suffering so immeasurably the least God could do is get a fucking headache from the millions of concurrent pleas for mercy.

I understand how you feel towards watching others suffer , all I can say at the moment is that the earth is not being ignored .

I'm saying that some people can't find religion, and this is a fact. I've known people that made everything to find faith in the Catholic God but it was empty for them. It's just that they need something other.
I know the paragraph you're talking about and yeah, not finding faith can sometimes be the fact of a non fertile field, but it's not always conscious and this field can be something else as Catholic Church, depending on sensibility's.

I've not be raised in a catholic family, was in a muslim and agnostic family. And I won't refute the fact that it can bring comfort, it's a quality lol. Was just saying that it doesn't only bring comfort and that it wasn't clever to reduce the intelligence of faith to that.
