Well, I'm not rich, if I were rich, like a multimillionaire rich, I wouldn't be here ig.

You seem to not enjoy life itself, or perhaps existence itself.

If you're a multimillionaire, say with 10ml or more, life will probably start to lose its meaning to you, unless you do something about it.

If you're rich enough to not need to work for anyone, I'll really suggest going out in nature, go live in the wild for a bit, that's what I would've done tbh.

Go hunting, fishing, and connect more with nature.

As much as I like many of the aspects of modern life, it seems to suck the life out of people.

You have one of the biggest problems solved, which is money, you can focus on yourself and figuring out how to live live in the way that brings you happiness.

You don't have to make irreversible decisions, you can take your time.

I reckon I could have a good year as a millionaire before things became meaningless again. I have decent assets but no desire to develop them further for that reason.
I dont see how giving your money away would give you any meaning

Been there done that, i don't think happiness is attainable in the long term on this earth. Schopenhauer said it best "All striving springs from want or deficiency, from dissatisfaction with one's condition, and is therefore suffering so long as it is not satisfied. No satisfaction, however, is lasting; rather it is always merely the starting point of fresh striving."

German philosophers are depressing lol, I still love them though ig.

I don't know how it feels to be in your own shoes, but it seems you did try different paths to try to feel some or any happiness.

"No satisfaction, however, is lasting; rather it is always merely the starting point of fresh striving." This quote hits hard now that I remember I was never really satisfied, even when I achieved things in the past, I immediately started seeking others.

I hope you find the meaning(s) that can give you enough satisfaction to keep going.

If I were as rich as you I would buy land and farm it in harmony with nature where other people could also experience peace, even if only for a moment.

Make a little space where the planet and the human race would become a slightly better place.

Money just makes you stop wanting stuff. I don't remember the last time I wanted something someone could buy. The things I crave most are those that cash just won't help.

Despite being rich in my 20s i am miserable and hate this meaningless existence, i don't even desire to buy anything because materialistic consumption is not fulfilling. I was considering donating some of it to charities but most of them are a scum, i might just burn it all and die.
I don't know man, you might need to prove it by passing me some bands and then I'm on board for whatever sick message you're trying to send.

If i had alot of money i would just walk into a vet and give them like 100k for a bottle of PB and say bye bye World. Money really bends the rules

I don't think I'm necessarily rich, but my parents definitely are considered somewhat wealthy and I've never had any sort of money problem my whole life but my life is still miserable af nevertheless haha

Most vets are already quite well-off and that would literally end their entire career so I don't think they'd accept that anyways tbh

I was raised in an upper-middle class family. Having enough money to meet my basic needs and ensure my freedom really increases my quality of life and happiness. However, having more than this doesn't make me any happier. I don't care about living a luxurious life. I just want peace. So money isn't the solution to my problems.

As it turns out, for me, happiness is way more expensive than money can afford.

I'd consider myself fairly privileged as well. Honestly, knowing that I had it easy growing up just made it clearer that everything wrong in my life was exactly my fault.

If I had something else to blame, sometimes I wonder if it would at least be easier. Better to die thinking I was a victim, instead of thinking I'm just a problem. But the grass is always greener I suppose.

Not sure what qualifies as "rich" but I've got six figures in the bank, a job that let's me travel to japan and I'm probably not going to be on this earth by the end of the year. Life is shitty and suffering is universal.

I've had financial security in the past but it didn't really make me change my attitude to life or make me believe it was worth it
The novelty of being able to buy lots of nice things wore off quick and possessions just reinforced the emptiness of my existence

Clearly those with money have a different outlook on everything than those without.

I'm not struggling but I don't live a lavish lifestyle - if I were rich, I'd probably buy myself a farm and just enjoy life that way. But I can see how the novelty of that may wear off quickly.

And sometimes a lot of negativity can come from wealth. Like figuring out whether people are interested in you, or the life you could provide..

31M here. For me it all revolves around not having enough money to buy the medication I need. I was well off making 6 figures, had savings etc but hit the end of the line due to medical chronic medical issues and no insurance since I was self employed. Now it's scraping things together wondering what the next step will really be.

I am similar. I was definitely happier when I was broke, because it gave me something to strive for thinking it could make me enjoy life more. Turns out it didn't and now happiness just feels all the more futile

That's the situation I'm in. But when the money runs out is when it gets scary. Especially with animals. I can't leave them behind so figure I just need find a way to contact the people that own land near me

This is what really broke me. I was paying for a decent amount of my ex-gf's mom's cancer bills and then I get dropped for "asking too personal questions". The worst bit is that I tried to cut off the relationship a few times so I could ctb and just leave her with a larger chunk of cash. I guess this is on me for being too trusting with the first person I've really opened up to someone about my money.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. Fortunately I have the luxury of not valuing my life, so I won't encounter this issue.

Money may not buy happiness. But it can keep many forms of misery out of the door. This past Saturday I saw someone sleeping on the sidewalk in front of a grocery store, covered head to toe with a single blanket. It was a sad and humbling experience. I am far from rich, btw.

Well, according to the outside world, I am successful. Healthy investments and several real-estate holdings free of any liens. My business provides a nice income and I get to travel with my family. But compared to the other families in my daughter's private school - We are probably the poorest. No private jet - no homes in New York or Rosedale in Toronto.....Oh - and the benchmark of "one-million" dollars is now "three-million" to account for inflation. So, those of you that are young and broke - you are still wealthier than me because if I did not have the responsibility of my family, I would sign everything over to be 40 years younger!

I have something but I don't consider myself rich, not even close and I don't know what I would do with that much of money.
