Any of you had bad experiences with the food industry ?

Here's a little story:

Welp I've been working in my job for almost a year now

Been good so far yknow it's not that difficult sometimes I can become overbearing but I digress other wise Im grateful, theres some bad experiences I had with customers or coworkers but this one takes the cake:

A old dude came an order a mix berry a large he didn't wanted any strawberries which ok fine no problem. We gave em his order.

He came back and complained the berries were acidic ( the berries are acidic in my work not beacuse they were expired, also the bag my boss brings and I also buy in the supermarket are acidic not overbearing tho)

My boss respectfully replied that the berries are acidic but if he wanted to he could change it no charge. He got pissed and said: " this is a peice of crap." He just threw it at barely missing my supervisor.

The lady I was serving was in shock so was I and my supervisor, he just left in his car.

My hands were shaking I was starting to tear up since violence like that triggers bad memories from my childhood but I contained myself ans got out.

My supervisor was shaken up but she's super strong and she didn't argue with him either cuz well we lose our job.

In our place we have no cameras or anything the higher up doesn't want to money I guess.

I've seen tons of crazy videos of fights breaking out in restaurants. Some customers think that the staff is subservient to them in some way. It's ridiculous. But I've also seen several instances where the staff have protected themselves and their employees as well from the customers.

I worked at a local pizza place, it had two owners. One was a nice woman [calling her S], single mother, had her kid around the restaurant a lot but he was chill. I liked her. The other owner [calling him T] was an asshole of a guy. No one liked him, he was barely around where as S was actually working at the restaurant most days.

One day T was there and he was being an angry shithead. He called me a fat bitch. I immediately dropped the pizza dough I was holding and walked out and never went back.

I understand people become angrier when hungry, but that's no excuse to be an ass to employees. And this doesn't happen just at the food industry: Some people, whenever they spend money to get a service, act as if they need to have their every need catered perfectly. They forget the employees are just human beings trying to survive, instead of perfect servants to their majesty, the consumer.

This is one of the things you can blame on capitalism: When money is power, people that spend feel powerful, enough to be assholes.

Mama bear is so sorry fox had to go through this. I'm sure you do your service adequately and most people that get served by you would say you are a wonderful employee. If not, don't worry, you'll always be one of mama's best! *hugs and kisses* 🧸

Worked fast food for years. We had domestic disputes break out in our dining room, people openly vomit in our parking lot, nugget sauce smeared all over the walla of the bathroom, and a dude say his drink spilled "all over" after which he proceeded to throw his cup on the floor leaving a giant puddle (obviously it was still very full). It was a good time. I never let it get to me. It makes for fun stories (along with my burn scars).

Sorry this happened to you though. There is no reason anyone should act like that over a fucking smoothie. 🫂

A friend of mine once worked flipping burgers in a fast food restaurant. A customer came up to the counter and complained of some weird green bugs in the meat. (Don't ask me- I have no clue!) They reported it to the manager, who simply told them to offer him some more free food! (Hopefully without the green bugs in) but, I had to laugh at the mentality. I think he may have even accepted it!

Also, be warned- this is kind of gross... Someone else I used to work with had formely worked for customer relations for some sort of packaged food company. A lady had written in on the back of the food packet, saying: I found this in my meal: And she had sellotaped what seemed to be left of a mouse's leg to it. 🤢
