I cannot figure out how much egoistic could be putting someone in this meaningless and dreadful arena without his consent. All in all, we are there because of an imposition. How could I be ok with my consciousness knowing that my choice will lead to (in)evitable suffering and grief?

I view it as a terrible crime to burden one with the ability to suffer when previously they were completely unaware, all that procreation does is create problems that there was never a need for in the first place. To me existence is nothing more than a virus that causes harm and suffering, I find it to be such a horrific tragedy how life even exists at all. I despise how consciousness doesn't come with an offswitch despite the fact that we were so cruelly enslaved in this existence in the first place.

Dude, I'm an anti-natalist too, and I live in Brazil. Here it is common for very precarious families to have many children and end up not being able to feed any of them, apart from cases of aggression towards babies where parents often treat their birth as a failure.

Why would someone have a child to hate and make him suffer from the first day of his life?

Life sometimes ends up being the worst sexually transmitted disease.

Yes, sons are seen as objects and nothing else.

In my early teens I was as antinatalist as they come. But deep down it was just resentment based on how I felt I was wronged. Now all I want is to have a kid or two and give them a better life than I ever had. Do better than my parents did. I don't think its selfish to want to breed. I think it all depends on your reasons behind doing it and how you handle it. I was told by one of my parents that the only reason they had my brother and I was for "entertainment" purposes.

Still hurts when i think about it. I'd never want to do that. I'd only want to foster an environment where my offspring could have better opportunities and more unconditional love than I was ever shown growing up. And I think that's more selfless than what I was shown. I think it's more a matter of perspective and perception. When it comes to my parents, I understand how natalism can be seen as selfish and egotistical. But I don't think it always has to be like that
