  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

As the name suggests, this method is basically consists of not eating and drinking for death. Yeah it's a slow and drawn out method, but its not impossible. Many have done this in ancient India.

In the modern world, implementing this method has become more difficult.

Everyone has a right to refuse to eat and drink. Medical professionals are not allowed to force feed you. This is a "LEGAL" method.

This method also requires a lot of determination. Which most do not have.

I am not planning to die this way just yet. I have some backup plans but if it comes down to it, yes I will be doing this.

If you are interested in this method, I will tell you to do more research. I do like the information contained in the link i have provided below:

SO yes, this is basically it. Most people do not really believe that such a thing is possible. So i just wanted to let you know, this method exists. I believe in this method. And like i have said before, this was a common practice in ancient india. People have used this method.

The feeling of hunger will fade within days but what gets you is the lack of electrolytes and such a death would not be peaceful unless you are a monk.
Schopenhauer said this was the most based way to CTB.
*I imagine drinking water would be quicker than not eating or drinking and more comfy: any thoughts

This is a method from India where in ancient times people were told that it's a religiously accepted way of suicide rather than other methods so only people who bought into that lie did this and some still do. There are Indians nowadays who don't buy this and choose a more peaceful method. Please look at magician David Blaine performance in 2001 in London, after just subsistence of water alone after 40 days he was in agony. I really appreciate that you don't do this.

at least in the united states if you are deemed mentally unable to make medical decision (ie, suicidal), they will give you a feeding tube against your will

That sounds rough. After fasting for 90 hours I couldn't take it anymore, I can't imagine that long.

Yeah, (Buddhist) monks & Hindu "mystics" have special powers. They don't just levitate, they can also do photosynthesis.

i would argue that the legal definition may not be classified as suicide, at least in specific nations. Of course, medical ethics duty of care may involve artificial feeding ( parental ) of certain individuals with serious illness. This dilemma has crossed me to the point of appointing a Power of Attorney who will refuse nutrition and resuscitation, on my behalf, should I become incapacitated. The doctor, presumably, is of no assistance.

Is there a provision to force feed non terminally ill patients, who ordinarily, would be expected to live ???

i have nightmare visions of being stuck in a comatose state.

I recall once watching on SciShow that people can survive for weeks without food, but only 3 days without water. Even so, this seems like a pretty awful choice compared to other methods. Who cares if it's a legal loophole in some jurisdictions? I give the authorities full permission to throw my corpse into prison.

The worst part is when your pee pee hole dries up from dehydration. That hurts I'd imagine.

Actually my 80 year old grandfather did this in a nursing home. He was old and frail and it still took almost a month. He was pretty much in a coma after the first week though.

I was curious about this myself actually since I've heard of prisoners being force fed.
