my psychiatrist just prescribed amitriptyline and said my spouse has to like be in charge of it so I don't kill myself although my spouse is kinda oblivious and just handed it to me at the pharmacy so now I have it and it is mine and I am gonna research it as much as possible. like how painful would that be for suicide? I will go look into it. he said it will help me sleep and may help my digestive issues.

I know that medication is discussed in the PPH, and in the Guide to a Humane Self-Chosen Death also. I think you will really need to research it because it is not often discussed.

Powerful stuff. I do not know much about it but what little I have read indicates it is easily lethal at high doses.

i've done quite a bit of research on amitriptyline and i find it reliable if you have everything you need for the cocktail and most important, up to 24 hours where no one is looking for you for it to be be completely risk free, this is one of those methods that take a looong time for some people but it normally shouldn't take more than 6 hours at most. but not being found is key to succeeding with this method, every single case where someone fails is because they were found too early, doctors can force your body to function and completely empty your digestive system.

you need a lot of it so if you intend to do it this way then it should take you quite some time to stockpile enough amitriptyline for it to be lethal, you also need a lot of long acting benzos and of course an antiemetic so take that in mind.

and as for peacefulness, it seems quite peaceful indeed, not only is it stated to be very peaceful in the PPeH, some people have failed with it on this forum and they describe it the same way someone would describe a coma, they just went to sleep and the pain only came after they woke up in the hospital, absolutely no memories of even attempting. this is what made me want to try this method, you die in a very deep state of sleep.

i recommend reading the PPeH chapter on amitriptyline, it covers almost everything about it including doses and how to take it plus some interesting information.

thank you so much for your reply. it is comforting. I will read up on it a lot. I doubt I can get the other meds for the cocktail easily enough. and I am in bad shape so going to use what I have as prescribed for at least tonight. I could arrange the 24 hours not being found. I will look into the cocktail because it sounds less scary for me than sn and fear is one of the things that tends to hold me back a lot.

I am having really severe stomach and pelvis pain with extremely bad diarhea for over 2 months. this has made my mental health plummet and made me rather unstable. I was sobbing the whole appointment. he knows i have a gynocologist appointment tomorrow and urged me to go see a gastroenterologist although i cried more because they always say it is IBS but also say IBS is never this severe or this painful and problematic and the tests they do are very triggering for me a survivor of severe childabuse. so anyways he urges me to keep going to doctors and prescribed this because my sleep is super bad and that is a huge part of my instability and this will help that and also because this helps IBS and pain and other meds he has prescribed like gabapentine don't seem to effect me much or help me much as well as other meds he has prescribed for depression and sleep. he is pretty against benzos and will ocasionally prescribe them but strongly prefers not to. so that may play a part in him prescribing this rather than something like restoril which I have found helpful for the insomnia before and somewhat helpful with pain. he maybe is afraid to prescribe anything that would make the constipation worse.

my husband and I want me to be tested for endometriosis but just getting an appointment with someone who is willing to test for it has been difficult or treat it or anything. I have so many symptoms of endometriosis with adhesions of the bowel and more adhesions and no one is taking it seriously or getting how awful this is for me. the pain is so bad. i can't take it.

Amnotreal - I don't know what to say except I am so very sorry you are in that condition. I had someone I loved who dealt with many of the symptoms you just listed and it was just miserable for her, and we could not get it sorted out with doctors, they just pretty much dismissed her, it was really horrible. So, again as a witness to the type of misery you are dealing with, I am sorry and just hope something can relieve or reduce your suffering. Good night.

yeah, getting everything in order to make this method succeed is one of the reasons why i'm contemplating SN, because like you, i'm scared of SN but from what i've seen on this forum it seems like a really good method, and extremely easy to acquire. still scary because some side effects like fingers turning blue, tachycardia and migraine, but it definitely works since many people go with it and never come back.

I feel your pain... literally.
I've had severe digestive problems since my first c-section 30 years ago. Every day I am either very constipated, or running to the bathroom every time I eat. There's no in between. Horrific abdominal pain to where you are laying in a fetal position in a cold sweat.
It wasn't until I had my hysterectomy after my kids were older that they discovered that I had scar tissue adhered to my entire digestive system and bladder from the surgeries.
It obviously continues since it is even worse now than it was 10 years ago.

Add to that almost daily migraines and severe neck pain caused by an accident, surgery involving pins and screws from c-1 to c-5 and degenerative disease which continues to increase the pain and decrease nerve function.

Living with constant pain every day wears you out.

i think that it's better to do one or the other. both methods at the same time may cut the effectiveness because they both requite to swallow a very large amount of bitter of liquid and some people find that very hard to do.

but if you are talking about simply taking them before SN to make you sleepy, then it's probably fine because they don't really interact, although benzos are the better choice simply because they are more sedative and they have very anxiolytic effect.

Right, if you ASK for something, it like no way, jose. lol
Could potentially ask but say you've taken it in the past for previous episodes of depression and got it from another doctor at the time but that's dependent on multiple factors so may not work but it is unlikely. Could also say you don't do so good with SSRI's but not too sure how it would play out. But again it is a really unlikely one to get if you just ask for it, that will be suspicious af to a lot of doctors because it has a history of causing suicidal thoughts and uses in suicides/attempts.

my psychiatrist is afraid of prescribing benzos cuz they are addictive but he just upped my amitriptyline because i keep telling him about suicidal thoughts so yeah.
i guess thats helpful since it would take forever to horde them up at the dose given before. although to do the whole cocktail will be difficult for me and i don't waan do this if it would hurt wild animals and posted about that on a thread about sn. but if i wana go this rout it just got easier.

It helps me to fall asleep. But I've found it makes my nerve pain worse. I suffer from pins and needles, burning pains and aches all over and taking it makes this worse. Which is weird becuase apparently it's meant to be pretty effective for nerve pain.

No and don't have diabetes either. I only suspect that I have nueropathy I have yet to see a nuerologist. But I have numb toes and fingers that feel like they're permanently damaged, 24/7 prickly burning sensations in the toes, pins and needles all over, itchy crawling skin like bugs are crawling under the skin and many other aches and pains. I can't walk far because of the burning in the feet. This has gradually gotten worse over the years. Took me a long time to figure this all out and connect things together. Only went for a nuerologist referral the other day. I suspect I have nerve damage somewhere in the body. Have no idea how I got it because I've suffered no major trauma to the body.

You could possibly have nerve damage from surgery have you been to see a doctor about it?

I think its realible but it takes almost 300 pills if you include the sleeping pills in total wich is a whole lot also you cant be found for atleast 24 hours to be sure.

so I am now in some support groups for ibs and learning about Interstitial Cystitis which surgeon who is doing surgery on me in a few weeks thinks i could have besides other stuff. but people with both these things get amitriptyline prescribed pretty easily it seems like because they talk about it a lot. i guess this is an antidepressant prescribed a lot for insomnia and for pain problems. it could be easier to get than i realized. it helps my pain and insomnia so well i have not managed to save any up. at least i suspect it wont be hard to keep taking it and getting it prescribed.

It takes a long time to kill you, you should actually plan more than 48 hours. You'll need at least 6-7 grams worth, less could easily kill you though. I'm 6'7" 250lbs and 5.5 grams 99% killed me. It would need to be crushed to be on the safe side. But it's definitely a peaceful way to go, you'll just fall asleep. No pain or discomfort for me at least. No weird feelings.

the peacefulness is what is so appealing. i have promise to myself to see if the surgery will help ease my symptomes enough to hold off on anything.

I read somewhere somebody took it without benzo, he said it's peaceful, sleep after 30 minutes, very nice feeling. But he experiencing nasty effects (while unconscious) due to not using benzo.
Also you need to add cimetidine about 2 gr (potentiator, shorten time of death), alcohol also same purpose, and combinations of benzos (shorten time of death, also one of them 300-500 mg of diazepam)
