Amitriptyline

Hi I noticed that pfp handbook recommended Amitriptyline as one of the methods, or not recommended but at least mentioned it and gave the method decent scores.

It seems on this forum that its listed as a non method that should not be tried however so I would like to know what people think of the exact method used in the handbook.


Edit: checked the 2025 PPeH version and amitri only had a 6 in reliability and not great peacefulness either.

I'm not super sure but I think this method is not common due to the staggering number of pills needed to achieve lethal level.

This is possible but do you think thats because they think its hard to get thst many pills? Because they often get sold in packs of 100 and I think you need 150-200 50mg pills.

tcas are anticholinergic. you may suffer a psychosis similar to dph overdose

Yes, that, along with the process of consuming hundreds of pills to end your life. I personally can't bring myself to do it.

OD'd on antidepressants, paracetamol and "legal" highs... none of which were a good time. Just got extremely ill. I don't know how much you need to make it successful with OD or how hard the drugs need to be.

The thing with this one is that it makes you sleepy. It also has a pain numbing effect. The fact that PPeH recommends it somewhat is quite interesting. Its quite different from other antidepressive drugs.

Amitripyline has been used fot CTB for quite long, so there is no doubt that this method works or not.

Just that you required quite a number of pills to achieve the necessary dose , like >100 depending on the dose per pill. This is a prescription pill and not easy to get so many without raisinga alarm .

As for peacefulness it is quite ok as amitripyline is a anti depressant, pain killer and somehow it will sedate the user into coma or unconsciousness though there will be vomit seizure or nausea .

As i can't get SN, this is one of the top method that i will consider.

I disagree that its hard to get 100 pills since the 25 mg ones at least often arrive as 100. Now whether its a good method in terms of safety I dunno. Coma sounds very bad if that could mean hospitalized coma, thats a nightmare.

Vomit seizures sounds bad if you are awake to feel them and so on.
