I mean hypothetically there are lots of alternatives: scarves, ties, cords, cables, sheets, belts, etc. It just depends on how strong it is and whether or not it stretches. Of course, the anchor point is just as important.
Hell, in one study I saw, someone had hanged themselves using a vine.
18 year olds can buy them in the USA, you just can't get a handgun until 21. If you don't live in the USA then Idk if you can get access to one.
