when I was younger i used to pass homeless people on the street. i never looked at them and thought i would never be like them. how wrong i was! now i know that i'll end up like them and that people will pass me by on the street, ignoring me, thinking i'm a loser, and they are probably right.
those homeless people i ignored probably had homes once. they probably had jobs and went to school and had a plan for their lives, but life just threw one monkey wrench after the other at them
there's going to be some guy that passes me on the street and thinks "what a bum", but in a few years he will be in the same situation that i was in. and when that guy is homeless someone will pass him by on the street and think the same thing
when i sit back and think about it all, all i can do is just laugh. life will take many things from you, but it can never take your laughter

How imminent do you think it will be that you'll be homeless?

The last time I checked, it takes landlords about six months to formally evict you (think with police escort and all that). Honestly, you're right. Homelessness and displacement in general will become more routine than we care to think about, especially as economic conditions and climate change continue to worsen. People are just finding it harder and harder to survive and the reality is most people, particularly those who are not wealthy, are only a couple risk factors away from homelessness.

Have you got any kind of plan yet?

i got a part time job and expect some money coming in, but with my track record of not holding a job for long i know that it won't last and i'll be unemployed again. i've delayed being homeless, but i wouldn't be surprised if i end up in a shelter before the end of the year. i don't really have a plan, i'm in a situation where i don't have much options and just have to go with whatever happens.
