That must be hard for you to bear that memory
I can't live with myself. I try to not hurt myself for my family but in the meantime I just punish myself constantly

I kinda understand of what you feel, feeling not deserve to be able to continue with this life. I don't punish myself directly, yet when something bad happens I always think "I deserve it" due to my past actions. I don't even believe in karma.

Even thinking about the good sides of myself, that past action still negates them.

So appreciate this thread. I was just coming to terms w/ my decision and was doing mental checklists and prep to ctb w/in the next 24 hours. It dawned on me that I didn't truly have a grasp on the "afterlife" and how to get to a place of calm/peace and not anguish before committing the act. I came across these two articles/sites that I'd like to share - no pressure. They both made me cry. There's just so much you miss/neglect when all you feel mentally and physically is pain. Even if you don't believe in spirituality or a higher power, there's a lot of practical nuggets that gave me perspective.

These videos from offTheLeftEye YouTube Channel has plenty ammount of information and evidence from the man whose name is Emmanuel Swedenborg.

Thanks for sharing!

It's pretty scary with how religions say suicide is illegal. I don't want to end up in Hell, and I don't want to be damned with eternal death (damnation). I know, sounds ironic, why would a suicidal person like me want eternal life? lol

I believe in some sort of afterlife. It might not even last forever and I think it might be different for everyone, but I think energy or our souls move into another realm after our bodies die.

Energy cannot be destroyed nor created, it transforms/changes into another state. What state? No one knows.

Can't say I'm remotely confident one way or another, but generally leaning towards the "this universe is a simulation" theory on the grounds that it's actually pretty likely as far as we understand.

What actually happens after death if that's true is a matter of optimism. Do I have a "real" meat body sitting in some full-immersion VR chamber type thing out there, waiting to wake up, or am I just an AI in the simulation?

Reincarnation would be the worst thing i can think of. Starting again and again in an endless pointless loop of no escape and suffering where no progress ever matters but you are still forced to try again and again. If hell exists, then it surely has the form of reincarnation and we might just be in it. In order to suffer you have to be given some hope. Endless torture, like some religious books tell us, would probably at some point just lose its effect and not matter anymore.

The concept of heaven is even more weird. How would this perfect paradise heaven look like? Getting 70 virgins and being rewarded with lust of the flesh can't be it.

I would be very comfortable with nothingness. With just going back how it was before birth. Or even just endless sleeping. I think thats the closest to perfection that you can get.

Does anyone believe in an afterlife? I'm just curious to see what some of the different beliefs might be.

What if everyone around us in this life are just people we are going to be in future lives or have been in past lives.

The thing about reincarnation is supposedly we don`t remember past lives.
Whatever religion has to say about it can`t be trusted because religion is all about control.
Religion is the worst thing man ever created but it does give relief to some so if it works for you, then go with it.
I think it`s total bullshit that we exist all the time as different people.
I do believe in an after life, just not sure if we reincarnate and if we do, do we have a choice on the matter?
