Does anyone on here believe in any sort of afterlife? I know in some cultures and religions, suicide is considered hell-like and you won't go to heaven if you CTB. Has anyone died and seen a tunnel of light or anything? And then came back?

I personally haven't. I know that some people who have had near-death experiences have seen this. Not only from ctb, but even from drowning, etc.
I've heard that it's almost like a dream. If you run towards the light, you make it out alive (or if you don't run towards the light, you make it out alive). I can't quite remember what one it was. Don't quote me on this, it's only what I've heard lol A lot of people talk about a light at the end of the tunnel, so I somewhat believe it's true.

Nay. A bright light at the end of a tunnel ? I saw things like that many times when I used to do drugs....and much more. People need to think they are more than just basic organisms in order to give a meaning to life.

I have had probably 4 near death experiences. Once from blood poisoning when I was 12, I went into cardiac arrest and then was resuscitated and in a coma for 3 days. Nothing happened, no light or dreams, just like sleep without a dream. Second, CTB attempt by antifreeze at age 15, seizures then a 30 hour coma. Once again nothing. Third time, aseptic meningitis are age 16, another cardiac arrest with extreme fever then 2 day coma, also nothing. Fourth, CTB by amitriptyline cocktail this last November. Misdiagnosis of brain death, then coma of about 10 days, once again, nothing.

I don't believe in it. I think it's what people who are too afraid of death, of the nothingness make up.

Most likely nay but i'm not ruling it out since living also seems improbable. I really hope there is an afterlife and thats its amazing so that everyone whose passed on here is happy because we all know they deserved it. :aw::heart:

Nay. We're not ethereal being's with a place to go after we die. Just organisms made up of basic matter and cells, we're created from nothing and we go back into nothing in the end.

I'm probably one of the only yayers. I read a lot about NDEs, past lives, and afterlife stuff because it interests me. Most of the stuff I read/see gear toward some type of reincarnation, but not the type of reincarnation we think about. I've heard that suicides are not in any way punished, but the souls of people who kill themselves are given a time to heal in isolation. I know nobody really knows, but I hear lots of strong opinions from those who don't believe/don't want an afterlife, and I always like to bring light to the possibility of one.

I like to remind myself from time to time of the old Socratic insight that the only thing I know for sure is that I don't know anything at all.

Something far more profound than our fragile, short lived minds could ever imagine. Or nothing. Or both.
"Is this real or is it a dream?"
"Why can't it be both?"

Nay... To be honest, I think being me and existing in whatever form for all of eternity would be my absolute hell so I really hope there isn't anything...

I believe in Reincarnation.

When I was 6 years old, I used to have dreams that I jumped off of a high balcony and ctb.

I do have a belief I killed myself in a past life before and I planned/am trying to stick around this time so that I would not have to repeat this struggle over again. Unfortunately, the road ahead is looking like I'll have to repeat the cycle.

I want to believe in an afterlife but when I was passed out after drinking my SN there was just nothing. It was a peaceful nothing but it was still nothing. Hopefully that's just because I wasn't completely dead.

I think people believe it for some utilitarian purpose. Them believing in it allows them to function. Whether it's objectively true or not doesn't really matter because it helps them keep working. I personally don't but I guess that means I don't need it.

I say yay. I hope and pray that I will go to Heaven -- hopefully without having to first languish in Purgatory. I tend to be a universalist: I don't want to believe in Hell, though I am still a little apprehensive of ending up there. Perhaps, after billions of years in Heaven, each individual consciousness, each human soul, will merge with God, in much the same way that a drop of water will merge with an infinitely immense ocean. I realize that universalism and merging with God are not part of small-o orthodox Christianity, which is why I hesitated to write this. But small-o orthodox Christianity disapproves of ctb, and I certainly disagree with the Church in that regard. Eh bien! It seems I am a heretic, alas :notsure:

cbt in a dream does not nessecarily mean you have cbt in past lifes. My dreams of cbting have started for some months now and are plentyfull. I believe its because lately all i do is think of cbt in painless ways etc and i mean thinking intensely. Maybe its that
i believe afterlife we are flying beings we go where we want , whether its a fantasy made scenary or we start from this point of Earth where we die in first place and go from there. But im almost sure we get to fly but we are sensless numb beings on that world. Thats why its considered a "sin" .Because you get to be without emotions like those we know here on earth of love and compassion. Its still just a theory but i rly like to believe it. I had many many dreams of flying when i was controlling the flight with my emotions without success and as soon as i went numb i could progress further the dream but as soon as something emotionally set me up the dream was over. I also had something similar to what they call astral projection, because i was not in a dream field i was flying i was in my home i passed the wall without a problem to the front-yard then to the street i recall i thought where i would like to go and that was an island i lived in the past some 500 km away and so i started the flight aGain but because of misinformation about evil beings that can scare you i stopped the experience from there. I recall last moment i was thinking how fast my flying could go and it was limited. Then i woke in my bed again. I say astral projection cause nothing was out of order all the objects buildings etc where exactly the same. My conclusion is that we are flying beings in afterlife and we get to be grounded and more emotional in this experience. This duality of travel and stilness drives people crazy some times. When you cant travel but also cant get your feelings toghether in that house of yours you live in a void. We need both travel and home-feeling

Everything such as the meaning of dreams is open to interpretation so I'll have to agree with you. The dreams where I was 6 could have been about my future. I do think it's plenty off for a 6 year old to have.

I understand why you'd be dreaming of ctb, too. I believe I have past lives for many others reasons, though.. not just the dream.

past lifes or next lifes are very possible i aknowledge this but i try to convince myself there could be also no second life... If your dream where a 6 years old this puts out my theory. Myself lately cause i had the obsession to acquire a gun i saw many dreams of me shooting myself with a weapon and that dream come to an end...But be carefull i once saw before watching dreams of cbt i saw after a vivid dream just a random image of a woman covered in blood she was dead. I woke up not nessecarily scared but it was this strong odor next to me i got scared. This is more instictivly cause as animals we used to consider if an odor was present someone was near aswell. Got me thinking about spirits and such , which i dont believe exist. The odor was of a strong female parfume. I want to say this got me thinking ive been a murderer in past lifes and that very random image/dream was from my victim. It may aswell be true that dreams can predict future or show past experiences but it may aswell drive you crazy if you see some ugly stuff in them and your almost sure you done that before. The forget mechanism of birth/death is there for this reason aswell. To forget shit we did so we can try again ( if there is reincarnation). But something stays in our souls despite the forgetting maybe that would allow for spiritual growth

The character you've chosen in this life is only a small part of your whole being, your soul. Maybe at some point you will choose a life in which you embody a king or a queen on another planet. Or you choose a life in a cat's body, where you just eat, sleep and shit in the bed of your owner all day long.

The life you live now was planned by yourself; maybe the goal was to die by suicide.

But at the end of the day, everyone can believe and say what they want, as long as they accept other opinions and consciously harm no one. We will only see who is right, when the time has come.

I used to be yay, now I dont know. I would think that my soul or whatever would live on if my body dies. I like to think maybe theres something after death. The idea of nothing at all is somewhat terrifying to me. I'm hoping the after life is just eternal sleep or something. I really enjoy sleeping and If i could sleep for months I would. I think if heaven does exist how people says it does "like church every sunday, lined with gold, etc". It would be interesting. I dont care where I go though. I just want it to be over with as quickly as possible.
