It's a common issue. Some people can find them while others can't. I myself have a hard time locating them and compressing them to pass out. The threads here suggest finding a different method. Either SN or firearms.
If you are having troubles finding the sweet spot with your hands, perhaps you could test with a rope setup or a tourniquet?
I've found that the sweet spot was different (where my head and neck meet, for me) with rope and tourniquet than when I found it with my fingers (next to the addam's apple).

Yeah, had found it first by pressing fingers on my neck. But then later, when I tried with a tourniquet and with rope too, I found the sweet spot to be much higher than when I found by hand. So, I suggest forgoing the fingers and test with material you plan to cbt with.
