some weird or miscellanous things I've seen on Youtube not in chronological order:

searched for mercury rev's song meth of a rockettes kick and one of the results that has nothing to do with the song was a tutorial on how to make crack

putting in random numbers or words with .mov , _mov, or .mov at the end will show you a plethora of cool and strange stuff and nostalgic videos

was scrolling through shorts and saw a video of a guy being cremated out of nowhere

this strange channel with videos that have 100 views or less mostly just random film clips and edits and archival stuff I guess

have you seen or found anything obscure or weird on youtube lately?

Searching "suicide" on YouTube is now borked, and it is a very recent change. First you now get the usual dumb propaganda (whatever) but you can no longer filter results to show only videos posted over the past day/month/year. I've been searching the term for years that way, and now I cannot. The content is presumably still all there, you just can't find it.

I thought it was just me but I have also discovered that this happens when searching "self harm" and "eating disorder" as well

I think you have to get really specific with it now (just searching these things to hear others experiences) or adding on different words to form a sentence or make it look less suspicious kind of like how on Tumblr or other platforms that censor this stuff regardless of your purpose or reason to look for it

(but then again Tumblr gives you a choice to see the content when you search for it)
(for example typing suicide out like 5u1c1d3 or spelling other suspicious terms out like that like that)

but I think its a bit strange and confusing considering that actual porn and softcore pornographic content and dead people/corpses (typically seen or found by users against their will) can be found on the website and other strange channels/content it is a bit of a problem that other people have complained about for a while now but I wonder if this means they will do stuff about that too but I doubt it

Searching for "suicide squad" does not give a mental health warning. Not even a shitty movie warning. Gotta keep the sponsors happy.

What's weird is I saw an interview with YouTube's mental health czar recently and now I can't find it. I swear I even subscribed to the channel it was on. Should have mentioned it in the last post, because I swear the change was mentioned.

Remembered a kind of half assed work around that is sort of working. For the moment. I think it only works on PC, but I haven't checked it out on mobile.

(1) Do the search from Google, NOT inside YouTube
(2) "site:youtube.com" (all one word) <space> <search term> "suicide," "anorexia," "self harm," etc. Basically anything YouTube is blocking.
(3) If wanted, change the scope to current day/month/year,etc. in Tools.
(4) Do <ctrl> click open a new window, so you don't lose the search terms.

As an aside, the "site" command is actually kind of cool. Can be used on any website. Including this one.

Just click on "Show anyway" at the bottom to bypass the "censorship".

Btw, even "assisted dying" is blocked by default. That's really fucked up in my opinion.

The propaganda prevents you from showing only the most recent day/week/month. You get the same sort every time no matter what filter you select.

you cannot see a creators followed channels anymore :(

I am upset that this happened in the mobile update because it's one of the ways that I got to discover more music so now you just have to rely on the "related" button/feature

I wonder if this is a thing on desktop as well
