Saw a post in another suicide-related community this morning written by a guy saying that he spends all day, every day wishing for death but cannot obtain it due to being paralysed from the neck down. This person says that he can't even open his front door on his own, just gets moved between his bed and chair. It got me wondering, would it actually be possible for someone in such a trapped position to kill themselves? I've been ruminating on it on and off and I've arrived at the conclusion that I don't know what the flying fuck I would do either. Just sounds like pure, unadulterated hell, to be honest.

Only way I see is to stop having food and water, guaranteed death in 3 days or less and wouldn't be painful considering he is paralyzed..
That's a pretty brutal state of existence. I can't see any way they can die without some form of assistance.

The 3 days dead is a total myth. It takes a lot longer than that to die.
However, he could possibly fast for 40 days and then stuff himself with food, which has been known to kill people.
However, he would have to find someone willing to feed him like that.
VSED is painless, because of sedation, otherwise it's painful.

I've done research on VSED as I was considering it for a method and 3 days is not guaranteed. If you're certain it's guaranteed as well as painless please provide sources.
Pretty sure someone that disabled is being cared for, and as such their food and water intake would be observed. Just not eating and drinking is a good way to get an IV and feeding tube, as well as being removed from the comfort of your home.

I'm sorry, but this is simply not true at all. Any extent of deep research will show you that it's painful and can take longer than 3 days.
As someone else said, properly executed VSED also incorporates sedation, which helps relieve pain.
If it was really as painless and quick as you say, literally everyone on this forum would CTB by doing that.
Handicapped people have no say about what they want. They are just abused by the system by only showing what they can achieve despite everything and so on. No one asks or show how they feel, what
they want.

I think your only hope is death as soon as possible or there is treatment for your paralysis and you get better and escape and are free. That's my worst nightmare I can only hope a higher power has mercy on the people in that position.

Any chance they could have a bath and drown themselves? If their carer would be happy to give them a bath unmonitored, they could succeed that way. I'm not sure they'd be willing to leave them alone for long enough though.

Jesus Christ. I sometimes want to kill myself JUST IN CASE something like that were to happen to me and it'd be too late. Holy shit is life a nightmare. If suicide were legalized then this wouldn't be an issue. It shouldn't be an issue.

That is pretty unfortunate. His best bet is probably to drive whoever's watching him insane enough to want to try to kill him which he might still fail to do because he likely does not have enough agency to be able to truly antagonize someone.
Though hypothetically, if he is paralyzed from the neck down does that mean he also feels no pain there? If so it could open the door to all sorts of methods normal people would be too unwilling to try due to SI. Of course, there's still the matter of how he would even be able to enact any of those methods since he has constant supervision. That's another part of why I think the person taking care of him has to be the one to kill him no matter whether on purpose or by accident.

This, but in the event one doesn't have access to the RTD (right to die) organization, then yes, VSED (Voluntarily Stopping Eating & Drinking). Passive euthanasia (letting nature/illness run it's course) is generally legal in all of the US, though it is even an uphill battle to get it, meaning that a patient not only has to get approval from a judge in the court of law to allow a hospital to do that, making a will/medical directive (while one is still cognizant and has capability to make decisions).
As far as attempting, if one is able to move a wheerchair (whether electric or through a straw), then I suppose drowning or falling is a potential method, but isn't a good way to go (especially drowning) and also the odds of getting stopped is very high due to being monitored and under the healthcare workers' watch almost 24/7.
Bite off your own tongue and bleed/drown in your own blood. Absolutely BRUTAL, but I cant think of any other way of doing it.

He uses a device called GlassOuse to type. It is worn on the head. He is being cared for, by the sounds of it, so fat chance N would work out for him.
i see, so even if he manages to order it successfully, he can't actually open the package and administer himself. He needs someone else on his side, and fat chance a nurse would risk serious jailtime to helo him. The only thing he seems to have control over is eating/drinking. I hear starvations a very peaceful way to go. I once fasted for 3 weeks as a cleanse. Didn't feel hungry at all, even slightly elated.
