Hi,
For most of my life, I was kept out of sight,
Where my hope stayed a prisoner, hidden from light.
A father's control was the weight on my chest,
A master of problems, the worst of the best.
So skilled in the darkness, so deep in the lie,
He taught me to watch my own certainty die.
But a lock is just metal, and words are just breath,
And a life held in silence is a slow kind of death.
I reached for the glitch in the script he had written,
To find the old self that was bruised but unbidden.
The ink started bleeding, the page started tearing,
As I found the courage for the truth I am bearing.
I am the ink that argues with the pen,
The finished scene that starts itself again.
I am the track that asks where the train must go,
The only secret the stars forgot to know.
Carved into stone but written in sand,
I am the map that defies the hand.
A fixed point in time that refuses to stay,
I am the shadow that questions the day.
What am I?
A young soul destined to end her own life.

To find the old self that was bruised but unbidden.
