I’m browsing r/suicidewatch and the methods they talk about are ridiculous. That subreddit is an example of why it’s hard for adults to take younger people seriously.
Wow that’s high. A million succeed. How many real attempts would you say there are?97% of attempts fail. Mainly because of SI, not doing the method correctly or being "caught"
No one will ever know as most will go unnoticed or unrecordedWow that’s high. A million succeed. How many real attempts would you say there are?
SuicideWatch is a deterrent, they give you methods that fail so that you won't dare try again. Most are usually just cutting wrists or parasuicide methods.
That makes sense. I can’t take people seriously who say they’ve attempted countless times. Why would anyone admit to being so incompetent?I also asked myself, but what is a real try at all? Standing on a bridge? Trying to do it with unresearched methods, e.g. a package of paracetamol out of desperation? etc. I guess after filtering that out the successrate is higher.
You say incompetent, I say misinformed, especially when you consider the sheer number of impulsive attempts. It’s much harder to kill oneself that people assume. That makes sense. I can’t take people seriously who say they’ve attempted countless times. Why would anyone admit to being so incompetent?
besides that people choose the strangest paths, I want to add that it also has to be taken into account that the number of hidden prolifers is uncounted on here.... so there might be people around that claim to have tried but indirectly try to make others insecure about a methodThat makes sense. Because they’re bad sheep in good sheep clothing.besides that people choose the strangest paths, I want to add that it also has to be taken into account that the number of hidden prolifers is uncounted on here.... so there might be people around that claim to have tried but indirectly try to make others insecure about a method
