An old man lied dead in his apartment for more than 3 years. No friends or relatives could be found. The cause of death could not be determined. The radio was on and old food was in the fridge. Another person lied dead in his apartment for 8 years and the neighbors suspected nothing. A 60 year old man lied dead in his home for more than 9 years, almost 10 years. He was discovered by a caretaker who entered the apartment. The neighbors thought he had moved out of the apartment. This is how it can be if we live long enough, all acquaintances have died before us. When our ancestors lived as hunters and gatherers, they died naturally on the savannah. But now humans live in houses. People who choose to die of old age or disease can die in hospitals or nursing homes. Those who choose euthanasia will die in the suicide clinic. For people who want to shorten their lives with suicide to avoid more suffering, the suicide method decides which place is suitable. If I die alone in my home, no one can stop me, but then I will be lying dead indoors. I would like to die in nature, near the sea if it is possible and see a beautiful sunset. Where do you want to end your live?

That might happen to me if I keep isolating from the world so much.
However, I think my nephew will be still around and somehow find me.

I would also like to die in nature. It would be nice to admire the view and then just pass away. At least I wouldn't leave this world full of negative thoughts. If not nature then maybe in my house under some sort of anaesthetic. It would be nice not to be aware of dying.
I have heard many stories like that of people lying dead in buildings for a long period of time. One woman was in a house for years and she died wrapping presents. You would at least think someone would come to check on her then? Quite sad.

I think these stories are more common in large cities and very rural areas . There are certain things that happen with time that make something like this very unlikely to go on for more than a few years. For starters , property taxes. In US atleast this tax can't be set on some "autopay" out of a bank account in most jurisdictions . It has to be paid in actual physical cash , check, or log in to an online portal to pay by CC. If the person who is supposed to do it isn't physically alive the authorities will have them on the auction block usually within two years . However in shithole cities run by a certain type of people with a certain political affiliation , there often is no equity in properties so no one would bother to bid. So maybe that's how it takes so long.

im always amazed when i see these and they go beyond ten years. Who was paying the taxes / rent ? Who was doing the routine maintenance ?

This is a suicide forum for people suffering to support each other. Unnecessary politicking here. Unfortunately now I'm wondering about you as a certain type of person. This isn't supposed to be that kind of place.

If politics is a main driver of your suicidal thoughts maybe make a separate thread related to yourself. There's no need to squeeze it into other topics for griping purposes and pervade threads.

I'd choose to die outside, on a hill with a beautiful view, the feel of earth under my bare feet and the wind on my face.
What stops me is not being able to control who finds me. It would be horrible for a child to wander by, or anyone really. I went once to kill myself in the woods and pretty much tripped over people where ever I went.

I'll die in my house with music playing. Maybe I'll leave the windows open. I plan on leaving a note for the mailperson to call the cops so I hope to be discovered by professionals with a minimum of drama.

If I were to end it right now I would also like to be in nature. With nobody around and if animals decided that they want to eat me until there's nothing left, that would be ideal. This might be weird to say but I don't want to be remembered, I want it to be as if I never existed, I want every trace of me to be wiped off the earth.I don't want to be found or stopped.

There are many run down jurisdictions in the US. They're run down for a reason . The commentary is relevant so far as it shows how dilapidated does an area have to become that a corpse lies there for ten years

Property taxes are almost never automatically digitally debited in US. They can be paid digitally but something like "autopay" isn't common. The reason why is that rates vary from year to year and in fact most counties want their taxes paid , but they'd prefer it to be paid late because they can tack on a penalty fee. There's no ultimate risk of nonpayment in a financially healthy jurisdiction because the collateral can almost always be auctioned off to satisfy the liability. That being said , in certain jurisdictions run by a certain kleptocratic political faction (usually large cities ) property values are in the toilet

I guess the core message would be , if you want to avoid CTB, avoid large , congested , dysfunctional, poorly run American cities

I don't know where they got it but I've seen similar in credible outlets. I saw many stories from japan where the people let their parents die and hid the bodies and kept collecting the pension check

I'd wanna die at the beach. I mean with my method now I can't have that privilege but I wanna spend the day out in the sun feeling the sand and swimming reliving the happy days in my head. Then just pass out somehow. That's the dream

According to the coroner, neighbors don´t always notice if someone has died in their apartment - they don´t associate the smell with a corpse and therefore someone can lie dead in an apartment for years. I have been thinking about checking into a hotel but I think it is best to do it at home. It is not my fault that the world is overpopulated and densely populated.
