Life is too difficult for me

One of the most heart breaking stories of extreme burns survivor possibly in the world, is the story of Zaid Garcia from Texas.

When he was 2, the blanket he was sleeping in caught on fire and caused terrible 80% burns to his face and body. Doctors gave him an almost negligible chance of survival, but somehow he's still alive.

Zaid Garcia is a burn survivor. As a toddler, he was involved in a fire accident in which 80% of his body was burned when a candle fell and their house caught on fire. The accident blinded him permanently and he also lost both of his hands.

As a little boy, he had to endure many surgeries and faced great challenges over the years as he grew older. But the fighting spirit in him never dimmed or died, even once.

"It's been a hard path, but I healed, I want to inspire people," he said.

Garcia had dreamt of becoming a police officer since he was 10 years old but had never really believed that he would become one. However, it would take 9 more years for his wish to be fulfilled.

At 19, his face is completely disfigured and he is blind. His arms have been amputated. He is possibly the worst burn victim I have ever seen in my life.

I can't even begin to imagine the horror of living the way he does.

Warning : if you google his name, be prepared to see the worst burn victim you have seen in your entire life.

That sounds like such a hellish nightmare and I find it to be incredibly disturbing how this life can torture people in such a way. Just the fact that such suffering exists is enough to make me want to die. I really don't understand why anyone would wish to continue existing in such horrific circumstances like that. It's insane to me how someone could still be all positive after that, I bet they would really rather have N if they were able to access it.

I saw a video on him awhile back. He seems very sweet.

Edit: I originally posted the video, but apparently some people can't handle seeing the realities of a burn victim.

I used to subscribe to a channel that would share these types of stories. It'd feature people with severe physical conditions and disfigurements.

After a while I unsubscribed because I couldn't take another story where someone with half a face and wheelchair bound would declare that they loved their scars and they were still going to pursue their dreams of becoming a ballerina.

It felt like a lie.

You just finished telling us you poop into a sack, but you wouldn't change anything about your situation even if you could? Ok.

I guess that's what people have to tell themselves if they want to keep going.

When they know they can't change their circumstances, they act like the life they have is the one they wanted all along.

Indeed. it is what we call copium.

I can't imagine anyone who would love being burned with no arms. It just doesn't register to me...

That should probably be in a spoiler tag because of the thumbnail.

The OP was cool enough to give us a warning and disclaimer about looking up the photos.

I took the video out, but I think if we didn't hide these types of people they wouldn't face such a stigma in society.

I completely agree with you. I cannot imagine a life like this. It is beyond comprehension. I would have just ended my life on the spot. It's that bad with this person.

Society is funny like that.

They'll say things like everyone is beautiful and what's on the surface doesn't matter. Then they proceed to treat you like crap because your exterior is unappealing.

So which is it.

On the other, there has to be a level of self-awareness as well. Forcing you to look at my skinless face isn't going to sow feelings of warmth, joy and acceptance.

It's like all of us walking around with our trauma and abuse showing on the outside.

It's ugly.

Every article about this kid shows his face. If "normies" can handle it, I don't see why people on this site couldn't. He's just a kid that had a really unfortunate accident.

Normies don't appear to be traumatized by anything, especially other people's pain, so I'm not surprised if they're deemed as being able to "handle it."

Most of us aren't like that.

I don't think extreme burn victims should have to hide themselves and if this kid wants to get his story out there by doing videos, more power to him.

Asking you to put the clip inside spoiler tags is in no way asking the victim to hide himself.

Thanks for being considerate of how his injuries might affect others viewing the thread.

I don't even see the point in this thread. Why is this is in suicide discussion? So you can all comment on how miserable you think his life is and how you'd kill yourselves on the spot? I'm sure he'd love to know his story is posted to a suicide website.

I agree that its sad from that point. Thinking about how this guy might not want to die, struggles to be alive and we talk about him on here is kind of sad.

I do think general pop also prefers "survivor/success" stories and would not want to hear about a sad person who ended their life. Thought censorship comes in many forms. So it's relevant here, although we could block out his name, and leave people to search for him themselves. I think the point is, people being forced alive against their own will. Although this happened when he was 2, so he wouldn't have a say all the way back then in any case. However I'm sure now that people would feel some kind of "disappointment" in a sense if he chose to end his life, even though its nothing to do with them and it's his own life & choices.

I don't feel either way, better or worse, that this guy pulls through because I don't know how he feels about it himself. Unlike most people though I don't feel happy/better about success 'rags to riches' stories. I don't know why that is, maybe because my own life is hard to improve, I don't know for sure. I don't know whether anyone here can relate to that or if its just me. If its not just me, its another talking point. Feels like a hard to talk about and taboo one.

Exactly.

The thing that strikes me is that we on this forum constantly reiterate that nobody's wish to die should be belittled or undermined - no matter what their circumstances are. So why is it ok to disbelieve and discredit somebody who wishes to live - no matter what their circumstances are?

None of us have to live his life. How does his wish to live affect us in any way? Is he campaigning against suicide in his videos?

For everyone bothered that this was in the main sub, this has been moved to Offtopic sub now.

The intention of this post was to express empathy because of how horrible I felt about this person who had suffered this beyond any measurable level of pain.
