• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

This isn't a discussion wether you celebrate Christmas or not, it can be other holidays as well. How do you feel about those? Like in general. Or if your believes doesn't celebrate anything at this time, how do you feel about holidays that are being celebrated?

I like Christmas when I can spend time with my family and have zero thoughts about anything at the time, but I really fucking hate all the lines at stores, when I just want to in n out from grocery store and some family is blocking the isles. Can't really complain about Christmas songs, since I've been blasting my own music from earphones when in public, and thank lord for that.

I hate the materialism of Christmas, obviously its fun to get gifts, but I hate to feel stressed about getting gifts, since I literally don't have money for that. This Christmas I'll be working morning shifts for the whole holiday, which is fun. I'm seeing my parents in the evening and it's tolerable.

What's your thoughts?

It comes and go. Like every other ordinary day. Does not excite me anymore. Loneliness is my fate I guess.

i've never celebrated christmas before, been to a christmas party once with a bunch of strangers at my neighbours house. was kind of awkward because i was 7 and i didn't know anyone there.

to me, it's just another day. i feel like if i did celebrate it however, it would be kind of similar to chinese new year - wherein it's just some awkward get together with relatives who dislike each other lol.

I like the decor, and walking around the city looking at it. I appreciate the colourful lights in the winter when I'm grappling with SAD.
You know Diogenes the Cynic? There's a story of him walking into the Athens marketplace and saying "Look at all these things I don't need!"
I feel a similar perverse satisfaction from looking at all the consumerism and thinking the same thing. Seeing all the traps and not falling into them.

This is really interesting, I don't think I've heard from that but I definitely feel the same.

Was always a special time of year when I was a kid. That feeling is long gone now. Life goes on, it's all the same year round. But this is my last Christmas so I want it to be special one last time.

Nothing other than suffering, it's just more time spent suffering in this cruel, futile existence I never would have wished for and never would have chosen, existence to me truly is just waiting to die and I'd always prefer to peacefully not exist than be burdened with this existence.

I agree, for all festivals/celebrations. The amount of 'tat' that is increased year on year. So much unnecessary wastage. Big corporations profiteering and/or fast fashion/production making stuff so cheap folk just seem to think stuff literally grows on trees. When will they realise there are less and less trees for it to grow off...

I always thought holidays are stupid, even as a kid, and still don't understand any of them. Every day is the same to me, I never felt the need to celebrate one day more than the other which makes all the other days in comparison to it just worse in my opinion. And I also don't like being gifted things or having to gift anyone anything.

I like Chistmas as long as it's tasteful and not overdone. It's kind of like cologne, a small amount can be pleasant but when it's cheap and overpowering it makes me want to puke.

I also prefer to leave the presents for the children, because adults usually just give each other junk nobody needs and it's wasteful. I really hate buying things just for the sake of adhering to a tradition and not because they're needed.

I think it's overrated and feels like it's forced onto everyone and if you don't celebrate it you're either a grinch or atheist.

I'm not christian so it's uncomfortable to do the christmas dinner thing with reading the bible and other traditions. But it's manageable if it's just my parents and sister, at least I don't have to go with them to visit my grandma where all family comes and it's so loud. I had to attend my boyfriends family dinner twice and it was awful lol. I don't care about decorations so if I had my own home there'd be no christmas tree or anything. The presents are a little troublesome cause I don't have much money and feel bad when people want to get me something fancy. Only thing good about it is having a couple days off from work

Having to be with family for long periods of time is a bit meh as I don't really feel like I belong but I get free presents (tho I don't know what I want for this year) and money and tasty food so I feel more positive towards Christmas more than negative. Maybe its silly seeing Christmas lights before Halloween or even in August but I think thats just funny. Some of the decorations outside can be pretty and I like putting up the Christmas tree in our house. I can understand if some people do dislike or hate it, especially if you feel lonely or feel like its forced on people.

I used to be sad during Christmas and other holiday seasons because I was alone. But now, I have no feeling on them. It is just another day passing...

It is a merry time, joyful and a one where everyone shall be united by each others side! It is the only time during the year when I feel both so nostalgic for my own Christmas happiness and also how I want Christmas to be the best, hopefully it will feel truly glorious as I can imagine it to be one day!
Sadly because of families are nowadays, it really can spoil the Christmas mood, what is really really a shame.. of course, the Christian focus on what the celebration is really about is very important, such lore can't be skipped! However, I wish for non-Christians to enjoy this merry Holiday in their own way.
If only there was snow though.. it would feel even better for me.. ah, but yeah, reality always is lacking in some ways..

I really hate the holiday season. November to February are my worst months of the year. You have Thanksgiving, Christmas / New Year's, my birthday, and then Valentine's Day all on a monthly cadence and I have to sit there knowing how much everyone else enjoys it while I won't ever be able to. Whenever the holidays roll around it's borderline debilitating for me. Hell, even last year I quit my job on my birthday because I was planning on ctb'ing on it. I wonder how it'll go this year.
