• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

It's partly genetic and partly due to noise exposure. Hearing loss of this type is permanent but hearing aids can help significantly. Though hearing aids are virtually invisible these days they are still expensive. We are talking $3000-$5000. I'm not very enthusiastic about the idea of fixing my train-wreak of a life with money I don't have but let's see how it goes. It was about time to CTB already anyway.

Albeit expensive the option is there. But I'll probably CTB so I won't need them.

I have T too but not super loud. Surprisingly T never bothered me much. I've just accepted it as part of me instead of trying to fight it off. That worked for me.

Most of the time I don't notice it at all. Only when it's very quiet like when I'm lying down on my bed. But even then all I have to do is turn the fan or heater on and I won't notice it.

I always say that to myself too... the truth is however, I'm too much of a coward to go through with it. I hope you're not such a coward as me, and I hope your tinnitus gets better regardless.

I'm sorry something else has happened that's painful for you. Really. I hope it's not insensitive to comment that I've yearned for hearing loss for years and even contemplated causing myself hearing damage purposely so I could escape the incessant noise everywhere: loud, constantly barking dogs; violent motorcycles; souped-up trucks and cars; ear-splitting sirens... It's for sure different when you want your hearing. I wish I could gift you mine.

While I don't have hearing loss (afaik), I do have sensitivity to loud noises and sudden noises due to my Aspergers condition. I believe if I got tinnitus, then it is an extra reason for me to ctb on top of my long list of woes that life has dealt me in my 28 years of life. I'm sorry to hear about your condition and whatever decision you come to, I hope you find some peace (either in coping or through death).

That would be a fair trade lol! BTW have you tried earplugs? They can help with sensative ears. I always have a pair in my pocket, right after I exit my door I put them on. Saves my hearing from traffic noise, music in the mall etc.

I'm sorry you're going through this.

I don't know your specific health issues, but I was convinced I had hearing loss (still am actually) and had a proper hearing exam to see if it was real or just my mind playing tricks on me. The results were extremely minimal hearing loss in one ear. Not enough to justify my claims.

Yet, I still have trouble making out what people say most of the time and always find myself turning my head to hear better. I also have trouble making out what people say unless I'm completely focused on what they're saying.

Brain fog, constant running thoughts, high stress and anxiety seem to exacerbate this even further. Might have something to do with it.

Wish you the best.

Holy hell you are right! I just got my PTA test result today and turns out my hearing is even slightly better then the last time I had it tested. I was shocked! I still don't know why I had trouble understanding people but it seems to be getting better.

How old are you? If you're above 50, sensorineural hearing loss is pretty "normal" at that age. The higher frequencies are lost due to loss of cochlear hair cells.
