I plan to kill myself in a few years from now; maybe the next 2 or 3. It's something I am willing to take no risks of failure with and have been thinking through for nearly a year now as I know people would try to stop me if I tried to do it while at home since I still haven't moved out from living with my parents. One of my main question besides how to do it which I still have time to figure out; obviously, is what to include in the note. I don't want to leave anything out that should've been in it. Obviously I need to include the reasoning/an explanation as well as some type of proper "goodbye". But aside from that I'm unsure; though I am sure there's other things I'm most likely forgetting, so I figured I'd ask here if there's anything else anyone here would put in a note.

To me, the purpose of a note would be to give closure to those left behind and will mean that they are not left with unanswered questions. I would personally say things like there is nothing that you could have done, and now I am at peace, free from all suffering, but after all only you know what you should write in your note as it is your life after all. I wish you the best in whatever happens.

A note's purpose is different for everyone. You can provide an explanation and as many reasons as you'd like. I won't.

Those who read my note will not agree with my decision regardless of what is written. Rather than attempt and fail to convey the entirety of my suffering, I will instead describe where my misery has brought me—of the exhaustion that has gripped me, of my inability to persist any longer.

Given that you have several years left, take the time to ponder your note and refine it to your heart's content. Perhaps consider creating an auxiliary note to consolidate helpful information (such as account information, how to access any assets or possessions, etc). You can also write an informal will, though I would recommend consulting a lawyer if possible.

I wrote mine quickly and unemotionally . It has been sent and I return to it from time to time
