Wouldn't it be cool if it was legal to do studies on suicide methods, and publish them?

People who want to ctb could volunteer. They'd be in some room with the person doing the study, the person would control factors (such as did this person take antiemetics prior, if so, what kinds, what dosage, how frequently, etc). Then the person would execute the method and report how they feel until consciousness is lost. Time to unconsciousness would also be recorded.

If the person changes their mind (whether it's the survival instinct or the method is unpleasant), then their medical bills would be paid for, and it would be even greater if it were illegal to to put someone in the psych ward for that. Or if the method doesn't work or whatever, the participant would get some sum of money. If the method is peaceful and works, well, you got your reward. Maybe the sum of money that would've gone to you if you had survived would go to a family member or charity of your choice or something.

There is no chance in hell that this would ever become a thing, but one can dream.

And bonus points if the general public could submit ideas (of course, the volunteer would be aware of the entire process before they agree. They must know what the method is, what the preparation is, etc).

SN could be tested out in multiple people.

The DMSO method as well.

Etc.

And maybe the person should go through an extensive health screening beforehand to see if medical issues may have affected the method. The person's age, sex, weight, etc, would also be recorded.

It would be so nice.

If only.

It certainly would be amazing if people understood suicide. If people didn't immediately go 'oh it gets better though!!'

This would be really helpful, taking some of the mystery out of CTB. I'm not sure if I'd want to go out in a clinical setting though. I have been to enough hospitals and seen enough doctors to last me a lifetime.

If this could be legal, I would be willing to try out SN from DMSO skin absorption (and not drinking any) in the name of science.

We could have a rudimentary version of this.

People on here record themselves trying a method, report while they're still conscious and then have the video automatically upload itself somewhere after an hour or so of recording.

At the very least, I'm considering doing that when I go.

It's fucked up, but I'm kind of interested in this myself. I'd like to actually see for myself how the different methods play out. But ugh...I couldn't watch anyone from on here. It'd have to be other anonymous people.

I haven't been around on here long so I'm sure no one would be horribly torn up seeing it ;)

But no I get your point. It's kinda odd it's not had more research into it. Although I guess it kinda makes sense

Awww, no—we're all part of the community! ❤️ I mean I wish I could see like 5+ videos per method, which is incredibly morbid, I know. But for example, I've seen a few hanging videos, and they're out almost immediately. So it gives me comfort knowing that if it were to come to that for me, it'd be over quickly.

We're one big morbid family haha.

I agree, it'd be nice to be able to see some examples for the methods you're considering. I'm gonna be using SN and all I know is that some users on here have passed using it. But you can't really see much beyond that :/

I volunteer for death by chocolate if that helps your experiment @Sixfeetunder
If you send me vast quantities of chocolate each day then I will fill in a chart or something for you as to how near death I am getting with it. Is that helpful?

They don't even want to try to understand.
Just another platitude so they don't actually have to deal with or care about the person who wants to die.

I actually wouldn't mind ctb in a clinic. It would be better than doing it somewhere that someone will stumble across my dead body.
Also safer in case my attempt would fail if I did something wrong.
