Discussion Would you meet someone from SS?

So I saw another post about the rentafriend.com site and it got me thinking. There is a mega thread here about pact partners, for those who are opposed to a partner and/or are just not ready would you meet someone from SS for the purpose of starting a friendship?

Could such a thread be started? Seems having a connection is vital to mental health and it's possible some of us are in the same area (except me nobody is near me) but if there is any success in people meeting on the partner mega thread surely it's possible.

Personally I would avoid that, not everyone has the best of intentions on here as has been demonstrated before. Note how I said NOT everyone.

Haha well yes, this is true everywhere though. I'm new so not sure what may have happened previously but since yours is the first post that does raise some alarms.

Am I cynic or an optimist in thinking that generally speaking people only have selfish intentions but that in most cases it would fall short of violence and in contrast be mostly a mundane task in meeting people?

I would NOT meet anyone here, it's simply too risky for me to do so. I cannot risk having anything IRL that could leak my identity here. Thus, I'm keeping IRL separate from this forum for safety and security reasons. Plus, given how I'm not the best at street smarts and stuff, I'd be screwed really quickly if things go to shit.

And I also think the partners thread should be deleted and any such discussion heavily discourage if not outright banned.
Meeting someone you've met on the internet IRL is dodgy under the best circumstances, involving vulnerable, desperate people is a recipe for disaster.
