Hi everyone,

The recommended size bag for the inert gas method is the "large turkey oven bag" which is 19 inches wide by 24 inches long. I've placed the 19x24 oven bag over my head a few times and it's quite roomy when in position.

Amazon sells various clear plastic rectangular bags in differing sizes including 14.5x19, 14x20, 16x20, 13x18 and 17x20, most of which seem large enough to fit over a human head.

In theory, wouldn't a somewhat smaller bag fill up with inert gas and push out the remaining air faster thereby cutting down the time to induce unconsciousness followed by death?

No you need bigger one bc small one will stick to your face when you breathe in causing you're SN to kick in

That's possible although I believe the gas filling the bag will prevent it from sticking to your face...or at least it's supposed to.

Just as Manja says.

Also, I assume that you've carefully read-up on the method. When the bag is atop your head, with the elastic around your forehead, you scrunch the bag up, then let the inert gas fill it at any reasonable flow rate. The bag will fill in seconds, any small variation in size really doesn't matter, would be only a second or so difference.

You exhale, pull the now gas-filled bag down, take a deep breath, then breathe normally. The flowing gas will keep the bag inflated, no matter how big or small, within reason. Unconsciousness in 15 - 30 seconds, again no matter the small variation in the bag size, within reason. The desired effect will be achieved in a very few minutes, once again no matter the bag size.

As you say, in theory you're correct. But the difference would be in seconds, if that, nothing you'd notice. But if you feel that the 19 x 24 bag is too large get a smaller one. No harm.

Personally, I'd think the recommended bag size makes more sense, for the reasons listed. Also, I would think it'd increase success rate due to there being more gas in the bag upon the initial inhalation. Go with what feels more comfortable for you.
