What's the worst that can happen if I bring my sn on a plane? Will they just confiscate it or can I get in more trouble?

Worst case scenario they'll confiscate it, detain and question you. Depends if they think it's drugs or not

Can they detain me if I put it in my checked in baggage? So I'd miss my fight?

I wouldn't risk it if I were you.

I have no idea but it would raise suspicion. Think it shouldn't be illegal though and it has legitimate, regular uses.

I wouldn't risk carrying it on a plane. It would look pretty suspicious as a substance in an x-ray image I would think. I know it's not illegal but I would think they might want to test it and I would definitely think they would ask you what you were using it for. Not sure 'meat curing' would sound all that convincing.

I suppose you could post it to yourself but that's probably quite risky also. Still- it travels through the post to us- so- maybe it would be ok.

Most airlines will tell you and ask you to accept and confirm their terms and conditions that you cannot and will not bring a poision or hazard item with you onto the plane in your hand luggage when you order the ticket or/and during mobile check in. Now for checked luggage, I'm not sure. If I knew it would go through, I would bring my SN with me in checked luggage and suicide in my favourite location.

Yeah. I personally would just mail it to myself (if possible) if I was in this situation. It's not illegal, so I don't see why mail would be an issue. Correct me if I'm wrong.

But TSA is a different story and I would not bring a sketchy powder that is also poisonous on a plane. I've been able to easily BS my way to get stuff like SN and nitrogen thru vendors. But pretty sure things wouldn't go as smoothly if I ended up getting interrogated by TSA and had to explain why I had SN.

Yes- it isn't illegal- although I imagine people are becoming more aware of it now (and it's use...) You would need to declare what was inside the parcel on a customs form- so- this could be an issue. I think some manufacturers label their parcels as sodium salt- so this could be an option. It's also an oxidizer- so I'm not sure if it (officially) needs to be labelled as such. I really don't know to be honest. I suppose the issue would be if they opened it and found it wasn't labelled correctly. Maybe that would raise suspicion.
