working somehow makes me feel more alone

I've worked for the last 2 years but recently moved somewhere new. Im starting out at a place in a mall and it sucks. It feels like high school again, where everyone is friends already and the cliques are all made and im the sideline coworker who doesn't speak. I went to a store meeting and every single worker was a girl. They all seemed so normal and happy, their only problems were if they could stay out late and when school started. I stood in the back pretending I didn't exist.

I barely existed the days after that. My boyfriend was worried as I just laid in the same spot and didn't move or eat for 3 days. It felt like high school. It felt like I was 16 again. I relived the most suicidal time of my life.

whatever. I'm venting.

I'm starting a new job tomorrow, and I'm worried about experiencing this again - it happened at my last job.

As others say, just think about the money.

I already had my first day a few days ago. It was only for like 4ish hours so it wasn't too bad. It was similar to my old job and there wasn't too many workers so it wasn't that stressful. No one really talked to me apart from the people who were forced to talked to me (Managers). It was ok so as long as it stays ok I'll be ok.

my boyfriend wants me to make friends. he keeps encouraging me to talk to people but it's really hard when they all seem so far yk? I keep telling him I'll try and when I do I just get ignored or I'm too quiet to hear or people just don't even reply. I get weird looks lol. I'm really bad at being social. He really wants me to make some friends at work so I'll keep trying but I'm scared I'll fall into that trance again.

Don't beat yourself up over it if you can't. This younger generation barely wants to make friends anymore and are more toxic than ever before. Some of us are just meant to be invisible ig. As you get more settled however, I hope you'll gain some common ground with them even if its just one person.

Thank you for your kind words. I hope to gain common ground too lol. Sometimes, I forget that some of them are like me too. I just need to reach a little further for them to see that we are similar. We may be invisible but, we can always hope that some people can see us :)
