Could someone please encourage me to tell my psychologist I'm seeing tomorrow that I'm not doing well?

He would never section me without warning as he knows how traumatic it would be, so I'm not worried about that. He works in them himself and he knows it wouldn't be the right environment for me.

I'm just afraid to tell him I'm not feeling great and am on a downward spiral, but I was hoping someone here could give me some words of encouragement? I feel if you guys give me some words of strength, I may have more guts to tell him. Although sometimes he doesn't take me as seriously as I'm hoping, so he may not push it. I'm sorry if that's too much to ask.

You got this! Try your hardest to go in with a positive attitude. Remember it's their job and they have heard a lot worse. Don't be ashamed and be as honest as possible without telling them you hang out here. ;) Good luck my friend. Hopefully you'll get better.

It will make you feel much better after you've shared with him, I hope! You will be stronger after. Being done with something big always feels atleast a little relieving. Try to trust in the skill of your psychologist, deep down they mostly are really kind people.

Stay strong

You've got this. As soon as he asks how you are at the start of the session, just be open and honest about how you're really feeling. With therapy, you get out of it what you put in. It's always scary to open up and talk about your feelings etc but your therapist is there to help and not judge. He can't help if he doesn't know what's going on. Plus, you may end leaving the session feeling like some weight has been taken off your shoulders. Good luck :)

your psychologist is there to help you work through your problems. letting it off your chest will do more good than keeping it bottled up. opening up is a scary thing to do, but if you want to heal it's a necessary thing to do.

good luck! i hope everything goes well. we're here for you.

You have to help them to help you. Be honest, you can do this. Like you said, they wouldn't just section you as it would be traumatic so you have nothing really to worry about by being open and honest. You got this lovely

My own method when there's something I am having trouble telling my therapist, is to say "there's something I don't want to tell you". Once that is said, they will know they need to help me get it out, and that I'm reluctant to tell them. Perhaps it doesn't work for everyone, but my psychologist reassures me and nudges me just enough that I end up telling them.

It feels really silly when I write it down. I'm weird.

Good luck either way, you can do it! They are there to listen withough judgement, so don't be afraid of that. It's their job to take you seriously and I am sure he will if you tell him the truth about how you're feeling.

Hugs~

Thank you @Throwawaysoul @I_love_to_bake @Maxtothemax @VIBRITANNIA @BPD Barbie @CuddleHug , I managed to tell him I'm not doing well, your words of encouragement really helped. I also told him I had a plan and he was very calm about it. He knows I'm not in imminent danger, so I don't need to worry about being sectioned. I'm seeing him on Friday, let's see whether my brain is going to give me a chance or not. He's also trying to get my GP to get community mental health team on board, but it was at least a month ago when he sent the letter, and the NHS have said zilch. They're the reason I'm this bad in the first place, I don't have my hope up. Thank you again, it meant a lot to me and I will read them again when I need help with courage.

Edit: I didn't tell him about SN or SS, just that I had a plan and it will work when I try. I want to protect SS from the wrong people knowing about this, it's a blessing.
