I feel the same. It's very popular for suicide. It's also a 3 hour train ride for me through London. It would be nice to die in such beautiful surroundings. Get a train to Eastbourne, walk along the cliffs and just go for it. I'm thinking of going to scope it out if my SN doesn't come.

Knowing my luck I'd survive it though. That's why I daren't do anything like jumping. Scared I'll end up paraplegic.

But people catch on random crags and stuff don't they? I remember reading a post somewhere on here from a guy who tried jumping from a high building and survived and was really screwed over now. No-one thinks they will survive. People have survived Niagara Falls. All sorts of fluke stuff happens.

Here we go

It is around 530ft (150m) and no one has survived the fall, suicide or accident. so its pretty much guaranteed death with maybe a short period of time of excrutiating pain. I think at the highest point it takes 6 seconds to hit the bottom which is almost completely solid ground. It is littered with boulders which might not hamper an attempt but may result in more disfigurement and bruising. Not that a jumper would care.

I've read of a few different though close figures for attempts and successes and it seems around 1 person a week dies there and 3oo are talked down some way. Taxi drivers and other people who are in the area have learned to spot a potential jumper.

In some places the cliffs are angled at the bottom, at almost the highest point it is a sheer drop.

article from someone who visited to learn more about the suicide spot, here:

I admire those with the courage for that method, those who succeeded in this way were so brave and fortunate, I envy them as they are now incapable of suffering.

Hey if you're talking about actual dover and not beachy head I would be willing to come with and jump if that makes it less scary of a thought alone? I have been so many times alone and it just seems too terrifying. Let me know, see if you can message me
