I can imagine how crazy the wind is at beachy head by the coast. Obviously this weekend we have a storm.. I don't know anything also about the science and wind velocity or anything else.. but personally I would risk it with this much wind as I can imagine just being slammed into the cliffs and slowly tumbling down with the possibility of "just" being seriously injuredSo funny you should say that now. I went to Beachy Head today and it was crazy windy. My car door would barely open. It made me think jumping would be affected. Like you could jump and be blown into the cliff half way affecting the speed of the fall. But I don't know anything about the science side.. just my opinion x
Alright, I see you are from US, so more likely you have E, SE, NE windsHello, we had a storm today too. That is important to check the directions if you don't want to hit the wall/balcony/etc.
Me neither. I love the drama of that type of weather but no I'd want a still day for sure.I can imagine how crazy the wind is at beachy head by the coast. Obviously this weekend we have a storm.. One plus is you may get blown off the cliff, and then people would think it's an accident rather than a suicide.Me neither. I love the drama of that type of weather but no I'd want a still day for sure.
I drove round the Beachy Head road and I always scope the place out for wardens, as if I ever go there to ctb I want to know how many of them are around.. I hardly saw anyone.. no one who looked like a warden. Also, interestingly for myself I did see spots you could probably drive up to the edge if driving off was the method of choice.. but apparently you're more likely to survive then :-(One plus is you may get blown off the cliff, and then people would think it's an accident rather than a suicide.
Out of curiosity.. they didn't take extra measures to stop people going there today..?
Thank you for that information.. it's really appreciated.. I have a foot injury, doesn't stop me from walking, just running.. so if I was to be seen I wouldn't be able to run from them. But my plan is to be as unsuspicious as possible.. i may even take a camera (weird I know)I drove round the Beachy Head road and I always scope the place out for wardens, as if I ever go there to ctb I want to know how many of them are around.. I didn't notice any extra measures no! I like your idea of it being more likely to look like an accident though..
Haven't seen it.. but just for that comment I will watch it before I goI don't have an answer to your question I just wanted to say isn't Mulholland drive one of the greatest films ever made
"This figure and simple dynamic analysisI think it depends on the direction of the wind, for the most part. If you were standing on top of a building and looking at the ground from the edge, with the wind blowing towards your back, and then you jumped, the building would block the wind from hitting you because the wind current would have to go around it, so that might not do anything to affect the landing. If the wind was blowing towards your front, it could push you into the side of building if it was strong enough, but for that to happen, it would probably need to be strong enough for you to have difficulty walking forward while facing in the opposite direction the wind is moving.
I tried to look into this so I could find some good information for you from people who are more knowledgeable than I am, but the best I could find was an article about how wind drag affects the human body. The complicated math caused my brain to short circuit, I'm sorry to say, but maybe this could be of interest to you: https://rmets.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1256/wea.29.02
100 ft vs 2,000 ft is a HUGE different in height, so I would be worry about wind speed at 10 stories. I wouldn't risk it at such low height. I would chose a non-windy day.
2000ft!! where i live there is no buildings that height. landing on someone or even in front of someone is unfair i thinkMaybe the best way to ensure success would be to jump from a height of 2,000 ft instead of 100, but it would still depend on what it is you're jumping from and what the wind direction and speed is, whether or not it would cause a problem.
