I'm writing a will to cut out a certain family member - leaving money to two charities instead. In doing so could that family member contest it and say I wasn't in my 'right mind'? Anyone else had these concerns?

I have made a will which I doubt would be contested. However, I have witnessed disagreements within families, even when there was a will. People get funny over money. I suspect your solicitor would be able to advise best on what can and can't be contested.

I'm very sure this person would indeed get funny over said monies. Notwithstanding that, how do you say to your solicitor... "I'm intending to CTB, how will this impact my will if I cut so and so out?"

It depends on your age and method for ctb, am sure u wanna make it look like an accident or something

That's realistically unlikely.

There is no reason a will needs to mention anything about "CTB". (On the other hand, if you have life insurance then oftentimes they don't pay out in the event of suicide. But I don't think that's what we're talking about here).

A properly drawn will signed and notarized in the United States should do it, but it will have to go through probate. Will still get contested, especially the more money the more "funny."

Not sure about internationally, but in the US even more ironclad would be a trust, which would avoid probate and keep all transactions private. Trust can be put together with online resources, or most attorneys will do it for a couple thousand dollars. (Recommend spending the money).

I'd like to do a Will leaving all my monies to charity. Now this will exclude an immediate relative. I'm contemplating if I ctb in a month they'll contest it saying when writing it I wasn't in my right mind. The will writing and ctb being so close.
