I plan on using a hotel room & after some research, I'm still left wondering if they'll come to my parents house searching for clues as to where I got the SN & learned the method or the possibility that my parents will be in danger because of the presence SN. I'll be erasing any evidence of this site & the research I did into ctb to the best of my ability (order histories ) & I plan on leaving a note with my body saying that I used SN as a warning. I want to say something like "this is the only bottle I have & I only opened it in this room" (which are facts) but I worry that that will be interpreted as a "thou doth protest too much" situation...???

My goal with this post is to lessen the blowback my ctb will cause them as much as possible.

As I proofread this post it sounds more & more like I'm being paranoid. :meh: But better to be safe than sorry.

Any information would be helpful, thanks for the input in advance.:hug:

I think it is a good idea to leave a note, you could even say u read in the news about what it did to someone else (but maybe thats going to far), may I ask why do you think this: 'the possibility that my parents will be in danger because of the presence SN' ?

One of my friends in the U.S exited in a hotel. She left a hand-written note stating what she had used and that it had been obtained online. She also left a type-written note explaining the causes for her action. The police notified her mother, but did not search her home at all. They didn't even look in the trunk of her car, which is where she left her laptop. They do keep the notes you write, so if you want your loved ones to have a note, you could write one for them and mark it "For your eyes only" or write them a delayed email, then leave another hand-written and dated note for the authorities. Of course, in every country and every state the police probably have different methods.

My thought is if possible one should use a hotel room. I have never read or heard of any police doing any other investigation or searches when they are persuaded a person committed suicide in a hotel room. And why should they? If you leave a note saying you did this alone without any comment on your method, don't leave any visible clues as to where SN came from, (erase phone and put an entry code on it so it can't be checked afterward, or chuck it), tear off the bottle's label (or at least dispose of the bottle before you drink), and you are an adult, there is no reason for them to go any further, case closed.

Because they might be worried that my parents might be exposed to it somehow. I guess I'm considering more like an overreaction by authorities who are unfamiliar or unsure about SN.

I'm thinking... this also. :eh:

Hi @Asta, how would the "For your eyes only" thing work ?
Didn't follow the train of thought / logic, but perhaps I'm being dense....

@jgm63 - Not sure, guess my train is getting derailed more and more often :) Perhaps hide a note somewhere for his family and in a delayed email, tell them where the note is. You're not dense, jgm. I must have been thinking about the secret hiding place in our house where I'll leave a note. :heh: Beam me up, Scotty!!

Thanks for the feedback. I think it was me having a moment & just over thinking & being paranoid. :mmm::hug:

Ripping off the label... Didn't think of that one, I think that's a good idea. It seems like my plan is pretty solid so far. I think I just got a little paranoid & was second guessing myself. Thanks.

Is it?

If authorities come across an unlabeled substance at the scene of death, it's possible hazmat could be called in to investigate.

I was considering THAT. That's my fear, hazmat coming to their home... Early on I was planning to just take what I need & throw out the rest of the SN. Can I just flush the excess? If so maybe I'll just do that & get rid of the bottle.

SN is not an illegal substance, so there isn't any reason to do a big search for it in other locations. If you're leaving any behind, just make sure it's labeled to avoid any confusion or alarm.

Really, the only reason an investigation would be done at their house is if you were involved in something dangerous and illegal. Aside from that, I think you're fine.

Not sure if threadstarter updated on what happened

"It's basically ingestible Carbon monoxide"

---

This is very distressing because I'm with my parents and I can't go missing overnight without the world crashing down on me. It's more pressure to CTB successfully and more guilt. I am sending a delayed email; should I specify how I did it? I taped post-its saying "Do not ingest". Should I add what exactly is and why?

I'm not an expert but if you CTB away from home this shouldn't apply. It makes no sense. It's like od'ing on any other substance.

The gist of @Shakespear's Brother comment seems to be that by making SN easier to find and to identify, and by making it easier for authorities to establish it was the cause of your death, the hazmat police won't be as necessary. I think if they find my suicide pharmacy - SN labeled explicitly, plus antiemetics and antiacid - it will be very obvious. Will my parents get in trouble because I had SN sent to their premises? (I can't CTB at a hotel, unfortunately.)
Shawn Shatto's parents found the glass with the SN mixed with water Shatto drank from and brought it to the police thinking it was part of their equipment. They never mentioned incurring into legal trouble because SN was found in their home. Considering the Shattos, if they had been they would have mentioned it.
In my case, I think what will happen is that they will discover the SN presence in my system and deduce it was the cause of fatal methemoglobin. There will be a search at my parents and once the SN is found, explictly labelled, and my delayed emails are read out, then it will be over.
The real trouble if SN is found before you CTB. Even if it's not illegal.

No the police don't really care. They're not going to search anything.
