I recently listened to a video about the early beginnings of the troubled teen industry, it brought back memories and I was curious of others experiences at these programs.
I attended 2 programs a couple years back so the it wasn't half as bad as described in the video. For the most part physical abuse is not used anymore from what I know.
For me there was never any way to get better while trapped in there, the only thing I was focused on was escaping through absolute compliance. The more I think about it the more I realize how insane and absurd the entire thing was. Not all of it was hell, I have very mixed feelings towards the time I spent there.
