Looks like Abbott stopped producing it in 2004. It was a preferred drug used in US executions and for this reason the EU bans export of ingredients needed for production. Not sure about any other restrictions on access around the world. I just did a quick search and am curious if anyone has more info?

Nembutal does not even exist, people are looking for a product the manufacturer does not even make anymore.

As for this current topic, it's not discussed much as people who are depressed generally don't have the resources and connections to find such substances.

Surely- it does still exist. Otherwise, what do they use in the clinics and to euthanize animals? Although- granted- it does seem like the Canadian MAID programme is using other drugs.

But yeah- I agree- it seems incredibly difficult to get hold of- and illegal! I imagine life would be even worse with a criminal record. Obtaining it would either mean travelling to a country to try and get it. Then, either use it there and leave your family with the problem of getting your body back. Or- try and smuggle it through customs. Or- smuggle it through the postal system. Presumably- if it was discovered- that's a criminal offense I imagine. Depends on how lucky you feel and how much you care about breaking the law.

I think that it can not be taken orally. They give the animal one shot to calm it down and make it sleep, then after that has taken effect they have to give a second shot to cause it to CTB, so to speak. I don't think it is useful for what most people on this site might want to use it for. I could be wrong and I'm willing to be proven wrong.
